Champions Online's Orbital cannon must be the most over kill anamation wise. Summoning a beam of destruction from the heavens upon an unsuspecting foes head only to do so 15 sec later when the skill has recharged if it happens to be a boss. Unfortunately the skill is not very practical as other skills can do the same damage with out the cool down and wait period.

The most useful has to be the martial arts Dragon claw skill, or as I have come to call it: the win button.

I still think Death Grip is hilarious in PvP situations. It has to be up there with some of my favorite abilities. I also liked a lot of Aion's Ranger abilities because of the fact that they actually pushed or threw the enemy back, great for pvp.

@TheMMOJunkie Yes, hilarious. Nothing quite like charging an enemy the second an allied DK decides to Death Grip my target out of range. :

Across all games, the combat ability I love most is summoning a pet to fight for me! And the more pets I can have out at a time, the better.

In "The Realm" you could summon daemons to fight for you. My friend said his proudest moment, was when his daemon he summoned, summoned some skeletons to fight for it.

@Daverator

Minions that summon their own minions are very cool indeed. I believe there's a weapon in Diablo II (which you might give to a hireling) that procs some kind of undead summon, and I recall hearing that Torchlight's pet dog can be slotted with a skill to summon a skeleton pet. We definitely need more of this kind of thing!

Shadow Embrace from Champions Online is my favorite. Just something about shadow tendrils ripping apart my enemies makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I always liked the backstab ability of Rogues. I think FFXI did it best with SATA, Sneak Attack Trick Attack was stone cold awesome.

I consider the coolest move to be one of the augmentations from Deus Ex 1.

It detects incoming rockets/explosives and detonates them! You can't get much cooler than running about with random explosions happening all around you (but not near you). At the highest level it detonated rockets the second they were fired.

Punt from the Matrix Online. You sneak up behind your target and kick him fright in the crotch and your foot stays there for a moment. It never got old. The icon for the ability was foot with a small circle flying away from the foot at high velocity.

Force push in some games, even though its a simple ability, when implemented well, you could throw people against walls or into other objects, objects into people, or people and objects into bottomless pits.

Sadly MMOs don't shine in combat, it is rare to feel like you are part of combat rather than hitting a button and waiting for an animation. Force push was satisfying in single player games because of the variety and depth it could do. In an MMO, it will likely just be a single target knockdown, which will always play the same animation, and not work on half the targets in the game, and if you ever did knock something into a bottomless pit you'd just be mad you can't loot it.
