Is this the same as just clicking their banner and getting the "Your courage has been noted" caption?

No. Clicking that gets you a 50/50 shot at a Beta invite. Using one of these keys (I got mine!) guarantees it.

But I entered the key from massively and got the same "courage message"

Also, the client is not available for download just yet...

Yes. The fact that you got the courage message in the first place means you got in. Using the key after that was a waste. It's right there in the announcement about the Beta.

Applying for CBT is simple and its easy as 123!

Click “Gates of Hell” and a pop-up window should appear (allow pop-up if the browser is blocking it)

Now there are two choices:

1. Apply Now

2. Enter a CBT key obtained from the partner sites listed below:

You can make a gamble and click “apply now”. If the image shows that “Your courage has been Noted”. Then congratulations you are going to be a CBT tester! (It’s a 50-50 chance)

It's a whole new client, free to download and play. Owning the original provides no benefit other than being a single-player offline mode for testing new builds perhaps.

Their site doesn't explain much about the game or features or anything...unless I just can't find it.

There's basically nothing there, but there are still old wikki's up you can check out. Imagine it'll mostly hold to the old stuff.

The keys from here are already gone, but I was able to get in using the 50/50 thing by just going to the hellgate website and clicking apply now.
