We reported earlier this week on Hellgate Global's newly minted web presence. As of today it seems that the highway to hell is officially open, as T3Fun has posted a beta signup blurb on the game's forums. Closed beta testing for the resurrected title begins on June 3rd, and GM Verin says "there's going to be enough CBT keys for everyone, so don't worry about not being able to beta test."
Applying is as easy as registering on the forums and clicking on the "gates of hell" graphic at the top right of the announcement post. Getting into the beta in this manner is a random event, and you'll know you've been successful if you see an image that reads "your courage has been noted."
If you don't make the cut on the official forums, T3Fun has posted a list of partner sites that will be handing out beta keys in the coming days.

Yeah. I took that risk with Champions Online.
I don't know if I would take it again.

"Download coming soon" Enjoy Hellgate Global!
I know nothing about this game except there was alot of hype, and then a huge disaster that screwed people over (see Unverified's post above for instance). Wikki makes it sound like it'll be fun, I'll try a Cabalist.

Odd. Closed beta signups for the Redbana/T3Fun/Hanbitsoft version of Mythos for North America began a couple of years ago and there's no sign of an actual closed beta yet. Signups for Hellgate Global begin, and we have a start date just a few weeks away.

I expect those ppl that payed lifetime subs will be getting the game for free ?
Or maybe the gaming companies have found new ways to cheat extra money out of ppl ?

Seeing as the development studio that people payed lifetime subscriptions to (from everything I have gathered) essentially went out of business and sold off their IPs to other developers.
Probably not.
Who knows, maybe the new dev studio will be uncharacteristically generous and honor the lifetimers as a show of good faith, I just wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it.

I think the general thought is that they spent $149.99 on a lifetime pass only to have the company go under. Now there are some bitter feelings about the prospects of being stuck using whatever horrible cash shop the new developers slap into the game.
I think LOTRO offered a lifetime sub some time before they went F2P and the subbers essentially get all the content/future content for free. Of course in this instance the IP in question stayed within the company that offered the lifetime subs.
I have learned one thing from watching these lifetime subscriptions ..... companies will not offer them unless they are this close to going belly up. It seems that more often than not, they are not worth the risk.

LotRO offered Lifetime Subs out of the gate when it was still very popular. That's when I purchased mine.
There have been a couple of MMOs that have offered lifetimes and not done well. But I know that I don't know even the name of every single MMO out there. I certainly couldn't say how many MMOs that have offered a lifetime sub only did so when they weren't doing well...

Didn't mean to imply that they only provide them when they are not outwardly doing well. It seems to be more when they are internal issues (development ran long) at work and or they are an unknown quantity.
I dunno its just a feeling I get every time I see "lifetime subscription" as an option that there is some level of desperation behind it. If they know there is no chance they could fail they would never offer it because they stand to make more money milking people monthly. For whatever reason they need that money now.
Anyhow like I said its just sorta a feeling.
