"Elixirs all have some random component to them. For example, Elixir X is an unstable formula that when consumed gives the engineer a random Elite power from another profession."

OK This is way too cool!

Is it possible to destroy an enemy turret? Can we target and dps it?

This game just plain looks FUN! I can't wait. This and ArcheAge only things I've been excited about in MMO's for a long time.

Really like the engineer and the steampunk feel of the Charr. I actually didn't think they would make an engineer mainly because it feels really out of place to have a sylvari or nord engineer. It really doesn't fit that much with their lore to be focused onmechanics (at least based on what I've seen so far).

@cingeto

Why wouldn't it fit the Sylvari? Every single member of the race is a member of its first generation. They have no traditions, no cultural framework to inform their approach to life. All they have is their own perception of the world and that which they learn from their allies. The Charr demonstrate that technology and nature can exist right next to each other just fine.

There's nothing to stop them, and the desire to understand the world is a powerful motivator to try it.

That's true, I guess I just thought of the lack of machines etc. from the few screenshots of sylvari environments we've seen so far. Still, I think that the engineer fit's perfectly with the charr and asura and not so much with Sylvari and Norn. But you can say that about several other professions, some professions resonate better with one race than another.

They've said that the charr aren't necessarily living in harmony with nature--they're not going out of their way to slash and burn everything that grows, but they're not letting conservationism get in the way of their progress much, either. While the sylvari -are- new, they're also attuned to nature physically and spiritually, from what we've seen, so it does seem a little against type for them. But like charr Guardians (an against type example ArenaNet's used) there are all kinds of ways to roleplay one effectively. The alchemy angle alone would probably provide some good character hooks for a sylvari engineer.

This was an obvious class, I guessed this class about 4 months ago.
Now there is only the Mesmer left to be announced (atleast I hope so), Guild Wars isnt Guild Wars without the Mesmer.

amazing. my only beef is with the turret art; even for steampunk, it looks terribad; hope they remodel it. looks like such a cool class, exactly what i was hoping for.

I actually like that they've resisted the urge of making turrets that look like tank-turrets. Sure the 'fallic' turret is not my favorite either ;)

Now this class looks like one of those that many will want to pick up but few will actually be any good in. Tossing grenades and laying down turrets aside, I think this class will be tough to play well, balancing supporting your friends, laying down stuff to proactively deal with threats, lot of moving parts to juggle.

@Seldra

well i love the fact that theyre giving the engi a ton of abilities to escape and inflict CC. in other games, an engineer would be something "squishy", easy to focus fire. again, these guys really seem to know their pvp.
