Delaying releases/betas til major bugs are fixed is always a good move and a sign of a developer with enough cojones to stand up to publishers. Or with really understanding investors.

Either way... always a good thing.

Otherwise you end up with FFXIV.

@Transientmind Technically we are the Publisher AND Developer!

Really though, we met this morning and just couldn't allow the game to go out as is. We're hoping to get open beta live as soon as possible but this issue is a must fix before we allow more players in.

I'm not even sure I'm interested in the game, but thank you for doing it right. It's very reassuring.

Oh. My. God. The developer actually spoke to me. I'm never washing this login again.

Big fan of the game. Looking forward to the results.

I bought new computer components when the game wouldn't play well on my aging system. I'll have a kickass machine tomorrow.

I donno...the ideas for the game sound good but I gave up after about 20 minutes. But I find myself burned out on MMO's so I'm not a good judge at this point.

@Yellowdancer. I found that too. However I persevered with it and it became very enjoybale when you get a good group together, which is how the game is supposed to play. However, then the hackers/aimbotters start to become more and more prevalent and now it seems every second or third opponent "appears" to be using something naughty (although the people that whine about cheaters in district chat can be just as bad!)

Yah, the stuff that drew me in is the customization. I was thrown into a combat zone and didn't know what to do. Didn't want to figure out what to do. Didn't want to read small text on my screen. See, burn out. I just quit and fired up some Mass Effect on my X-box.

I wish they threw you into non-combat stuff. Really would like a high quality sandbox game. I know we will never get it because its a niche genre. So I will probably stick with DCUO and EQ2X for my mmo kicks for the time being.

Don't take this the wrong way, APB never was meant to be that Sandbox style game. The tutorial is limited but tries to give you a rundown of how driving works, how guns shoot, ect. There is very little else to learn. I always tell people who ask me about it, that the game is like playing GTA with more player without the cut scenes. To be honest the game barely qualifies as a MMO.

But I can defiantly sympathize with what your looking for though. Darkfall was to oriented towards skill grind. I heard Xcion is interesting so you might want to have a look.

Well open beta is essentially the same as launch, especially for a F2P. So I guess you don't really want something as bad as a disconnect issue.

Although you could always spin it and be like, this was intentional to encourage people to take breaks during long periods of gaming.

Way too convinient to find a major bug right b4 the OB starts. Smells to me like they havent been ready for the launch so they "found" a major bug...

@Toyaga

Actually, the bug is quite real. It was thought to have been fixed in an earlier patch, but apparently the most recent patch had brought it back.

@Toyaga

It's very real, I've had not one single graphical or performance issue playing the game throughout closed beta and when the pre-open beta batch went live yesterday an hour into my play session I got dropped from a mission where I was curb stomping the crims with an 11 death kill streak. As a result I never got the rewards and after logging back in I decided to just log off again.

It's great to seem them prioritizing a patch over just getting people in (especially when they would be turned away by this issue)

While the game isn't radically different from the RTW version of the game, once the crashing issue is resolved it should be fine for Open Beta(soft launch). While the combat can be frustrating (but always fun) its the customization options that set this game apart.

You can litterallly make your avatar look like anything you want. I've seen Marines in full dress uniform, Jean Luc Picard, all 5 power rangers or Faith from Mirrors Edge. It's awesome.

OK I am convinced now. Its good to have such a policy for bug fighting, but when 150 gaming sites announce your OB release date and you fail to launch... well its funny to me. Ull never see BW or Blizz do such thing. :D
