Twi'leks (that's a big one for me) ... very important and awesome species.

Since BW announced some of these species a while back now I've had slight issues with most of them -- mainly due to some of the playable species' rarity within SW lore.

My understanding of the Chiss were that previous to events of Outbound Flight and even after those events, the species was largely unknown in explored space. I suppose that they could have been common during this period of the old republic and then moved back into the unknown regions and were forgotten over time.

Sith Pureblood also make no sense to me. I thought that by this time most of the pureblood sith were still confined to places like Korriban and waining in numbers due to interbreeding with members of the exiled jedi who became the original sith lords and their ancestors, etc.

Miraluka as I know it are also fairly rare and yet, they are another playable race.

Rattataki are another an interesting choice. The list so far seems very...exotic. Where are the quarren, duros, mon cal, bith, rodian, bothan, or weequay?

@Alamar01 Similar to you, I wasn't bothered so much by Chiss, but Purebloods annoy me a bit because now it has to be explained what happened to them after SWTOR events.

Sith pure blood

Not so hard for me to think the story could make them a slave. they are on the decline at this point in the history ( or am I wrong about that ). A youngling vould have been taken in a raid and forced into it. There really are so many directions you can go with that story. Humans are slaves in the movies to other species it's not like they had a law that one species could be and another was off limits.

that's just my perception of the Star Wars universe. Please correct me if I am wrong.

@AnotherPint The Massassi were the slave sect, and they weren't exactly Force sensitive. These Purebloods will be of the of the Naga Sadow and Ludo Kressh variety.

Hey Larry have you "seen'' what the other, non-revealed race is? I know it but I'm not going to say anything here as I don't want to spoil it for anyone. Just wondering if you "saw" it yourself?

Also great job on GB.TV again this week bud. You're always there representing us "Star Wars fans first, MMO a close second" crowd! Hehe.

Let me also say the information I have may not end up in game but just wondering Larry and the community's thought on the races so far? And what does or doesn't break with Star Wars lore.

@Larry Everett

Ok good, thanks for responding. I was actually scared I might have crossed a line by even hinting at it on the site. But it's not exactly a huge secret since PCGamer (and others!) have leaked it.

Personally I'm not that sure Cyborg would be a good addition to the current races in-game. Feels too...unemotional for such a heavily story-based, morality laden game such as TOR is supposed to be.

On a side note, I created a discussion on the SWTOR forums about possible class additions for expansions and I came up with what I think may be a very likely scenario. For the first expansion I don't see them trying to shoe-horn in some different classes, HOWEVER I thought it would be quite logical to simply create a cross-over for the Republic Trooper and the Imperial Agent.

A Imperial Trooper (Commando, Mercenary...) would make perfect sense lore-wise because both sides need "grunts"! :)

And the Republic Agent also is very practical, because although the Republic's Intelligence Agency isn't as extensive as Imperial's Intelligence agency (or Ministry of Intelligence for us SW nerd types), I still think the Republic would have spies tramping across the galaxy as well. The Republic Spy? or Republic Operative?

Anyways just food for thought. And this would also give the Imperials another Tank/DPS class, while also giving the Republic another Heal/DPS class too, so balance would be maintained quite well also.

What do you think?

I'm pretty sure all the Sith were enslaved by dark jedi at one point.

There were four casts of Sith. Warriors, Priests, Engineers, and slaves.

At the time the game is taking place, it is unlikely that the character you play is of the warrior caste as almost all of them were killed off.

Brilliant! However, I did kind of give that away by saying, "What I would like to do today is make my own list based on what I know of Star Wars lore and announced species in the game"

Actually, Bioware is such specist, they won't give us playable Trandoshan commandos!

I don't care if I am kissing into a woman and biting off a portion of her face, I won't my Godzilla/reptile species! :P

On a bit more serious note:

While it may not fit lore-wise (and I don't follow lore and EU), I think they can shoe-horn in a Sith Inquisitor in there. Maybe give a set-up cinema: fallen from grace...or your other sect of the race. In fact, I really see Sith as all-purpose Force-Users for those classes and not so much as "simple Bounty Hunters/Agents"; Sith would not fit well for those things in my view.

And really, if we are having some races only fit part of the classes being offered, I feel that needs to be balanced out by other classes. Maybe we will see one race (Humans) have access to all classes on a side, but I can see a balance-act of sorts at Bioware : ("Okay, Sith have the Force users and Chiss are half-n-half, who will be all combat of B.Hunters/Imp.Agents?")

And while I am fully aware that it is more economical (Dev MMO labor-workload) to make one story and shoehorn every race into it, Bioware could surprise us, at least in small, side-story details and address particular race/class combos.

Well as far as the Purebloods, enough of them fled to Dromund Kaas that after a thousand years of baby making they grew in numbers hence their reemergence. I don't mind them being in game, however I really hope they add a few more playable races.

I know D.E. has used the romance excuse about not making some of the races playable, but Look at Kit Fisto (Nautolan) and Aayla Secura (Twi'lek) they would have had a relationship together if it wasn’t for their devotion to the Jedi Order.
They’ve also talked about the issues of certain races wearing helmets and masked. I don’t know why they just don’t make special helmets for those races?
