I really enjoyed the beastmen in FFXI as well. They continued to be a great recurring theme in further expansions as well. Defending the capital city of Aht Urghan from beastmen attack for the first time was great fun and really had the entire server joining in. They really stepped up their game for the nation storylines in the Wings of the Goddess expansion where all 3 nations were at war with the beastmen and the sides had various interactions between battles.

my favorite beastmen are the yagudos because:
-Gessho the coolest ninja in the game is yagudo.
-their religious leader got the best backstory ( dont think the others got any heh)
-they seem the least bloodthirsty.

also i think aht urhgan beastmen deserved some love in the article

Another vote for the Yagudo.
Gessho is awesome and one of the best NPCs in the game.
The story surrounding their theomilitary, the tumultuous relationship with Windurst, and their leadership is intriguing.

Having gone through a good deal of the main storyline in XIV, I can't wait for them to expound on their origins and structure. Especially the Ixal. I'm still convinced that the flying creature on the CE box art is Garuda.

i loved the Mamool Ja from treasures of aht urhgan expansion pack, and the lamia. they just seemed cooler than variants of frogs, birds, and turtles from the original story line.

"Mercifully, we were denied Ninja-type jobs on juvenile Quadavs, which is probably a boon in the long run."

Blasephemy! All things are made better by reptiles named for famous artists!

All kidding aside, I've loved the beastmen in XI and wondered why XIV hasn't really explored them yet. New races wouldn't be a bad idea either.

I remember the first time I saw a Yagudo so many years ago. It looked so alien and noble, standing defiantly against the backdrop of the sun shining over Starfall Hillock.

Then it aggro'd me and ate my intestines.
