Sony Online Entertainment's broken its string of the now-standard "Our games won't be up today" message to deliver substantial news about the restoration of its services and how players will be compensated. "At least a few more days" is all the studio is willing to commit to a time frame before its MMOs come back online, but at least it provides hope to the anxious players waiting to click their Station Launcher icon.
More definite, however, is the plan for how SOE will make good with its playerbase. All current SOE players will receive 30 days of game time added to their accounts plus one day for every day the system's been down. Depending on the game to which players are subscribed, SOE has a list of specific in-game items, currency, Station Cash, events and bonuses ready. This applies to both the studio's PC and PS3 titles.
Finally, all Station Account holders will be enrolled in a complimentary identity theft protection program. U.S. players will be enrolled in Debix for a year, while residents in other countries will be set up with similar services. Codes will be sent out by email for these programs, and U.S. players will need to enroll by June 28th to get the coverage.

All Clear ID (Debix's subsidiary i guess) is showing you have till June 18th, not 28th to get coverage.

@askray Having read quite a few articles on this recently, the ClearID stuff is actually useless. There is almost nothing they can do and the company isn't exactly the best ID theft monitoring company.
I know that here in Australia we are getting nothing from Sony, so I am going to go through our Consumer Affairs to get my money back from the games I have purchased from SOE (Steam has already refunded the costs of DCUO for me). Seeing as we have consumer protection laws and privacy legislation, Sony will have a hard time fighting this one, even if they bring 100 lawyers to the party. Consumers have a whole government department behind them and don't even need to show up at court to have this heard.
Sometimes it's great not to live in a country that believes in "small government".

@sortius Actually, I'm not arguing the companies position or the laws behind it. I was just pointing out that Massively is saying one thing while the ID place is saying another =P
I know most of the rest of the world is getting the cold shoulder on this and it does strike me as odd but obviously as you found out there is other avenues to go :)

@askray Yeh, I wasn't refuting what was being said, just a general heads up in regard to the fact ClearID doesn't actually protect you against anything. Add to this that Sony has only covered $1m of fraud - essentially US$0.01 per customer. It's disgusting that a corporation feels that this is acceptable.

@sortius A bunch of us contacted consumer affairs about DCUO's shoddy treatment of Australians back at launch. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them to be of much help sadly.

From the Sony announcement: http://www.soe.com/securityupdate/debix.vm
"A $1 million identity theft insurance policy per user"
Note the "per user".

Have to read the last part of the announcement in regards to the ID protection:
"Additionally, we announced today that SOE will provide its U.S.-based Station Account holders with complimentary enrollment in an identity theft protection program through Debix, one of the industry's most reputable identity protection firms.
For Station Account holders who live outside the U.S., SOE will be offering similar programs, if and as available, and will provide details as they're confirmed for each country or territory."

LOL I don't know about anyone else, but the overly plump Darth Vader doesn't work for me! That Pic is a real Hoot!
Anyone that games with SOE my heart goes out to you. I wish you nothing but the best.

I'm extremely conflicted at this point. I have already cancelled my credit card and received a new one. I love DCUO, but I have yet to see a statement that says I won't be losing my founder's deal with the special three month pricing plan. That bothers me. It will be pre-paid PSN cards for me, from now on.

Cancelled your credit card over this? That was a silly reaction. At worst you go a few weeks dealing with it but in the end you get your money back even without the sony 1 mil deal.

Time for people to:
A) Get an Xbox 360 instead of a PS (should have in the first place really).
B) Go play all of the other MMOs out there that are all better than any SOE MMO and are less likely to have you ending up with your bank account empty.

Your attempt to be clever is simply sad. I have both a PS3 and and Xbox 360. The games I play on both have been mostly worth the money. I have played, beta'ed, or experienced the trial for many of the MMOs released in the last six years. That includes SOE material and others. Drop the lame assumptions.
The PS3 is a superior system to the Xbox 360, regardless of network issues. Blu-ray and built-in wifi make it a far better value. Oh and I love paying for Xbox Live so I can access already paid for services like Netflix and Hulu Plus. Thanks for the tax on the inter-webz. My ISP handles that nicely.
DCUO, EQ II, and Vanguard are all excellent MMOs, based on my experience. BZZZ! There are plenty of MMOs outside of SOE's realm that will drain your bank account. If you are sufficiently entertained, then pay and play on.

@mechanicalturk Xbox marketplace totally trumps PSN. Xbox Slims have wifi. Bluray is nice but I stream all my content these days and you can buy a bluray player for under $99.
Live Gold can typically be had for $40 a year. Are you seriously complaining about $3.50 a month?
EQ2, DCUO and Vanguard are excellent MMO's? Do you have anymore of that kool-aid?

Yep, must be the kool-aid. Please continue the logical fallacies. The idiot-button tactic is to always claim that somebody is a fanboy. It definitely helps support your argument.
I call it like I play it. My statement was that they are excellent MMOs. I prefer PVP, so they may not top my list (except DCUO), but I stand by my statement.
No, Xbox marketplace does not trump PSN. I challenge you to prove it. Evidence always beats conjecture. There are good and bad elements to both markets and I have experienced them.
Streaming content is nice, but Blu-ray kicks ass for a visual experience. Why pay for an additional Blu-ray player, when I have a PS3? Oh, and I have the cheap Blu-ray player for the bedroom. Your argument is invalid. Please find me a compelling console MMO on Xbox 360. I'll wait.
Yes, I am complaining about an ADDITIONAL $3.50 a month. I can run DCUO, Netflix, and Hulu Plus on PS3 without the additional $3.50 a month. I have an ISP for the network. Explain the value add from Xbox Live. Compare the UI / UX for Hulu Plus and Netflix on PS3 vs Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 versions are clunky at best.
TL;DR I like both systems, SOE MMOs and non-SOE MMOs. It's plain dumb to generalize one vs the other. Grow up. Play more.
