There are patches and then there are patches, and the most recent Earthrise update was definitely the latter. Masthead Studios has dropped approximately one gigabyte worth of changes on the world of Enterra thanks to the 18143 patch, and if the preliminary discussion thread is any indication, players seem to be happy with the tweaks.
Many of the changes are found in the game's combat engine, with adjustments to core and special weapon damage as well as weapon ranges and substantial updates for assault rifles, precision rifles, flamers, melee weapons, and shotguns. AI line-of-sight issues have also been fixed, and several UI and party-related bugs have been squashed.
There's also an interesting blurb in the patch notes regarding territorial warfare. Specifically, the notes say that "all bases and the environment around them are complete and standing by." While Masthead hasn't publicly confirmed that Earthrise's warfare system is complete and ready for prime time, it's encouraging to see some official progress.

What the patch notes don't indicate is that Assault Rifles, already inferior to Precision Rifles (PRs exclusively dominating PvP), got singled out for an inexplicable and unwarranted 20% damage nerf.
And like all Earthrise patches this one saw absolutely no public testing of any kind is wrought with issues and bugs, most of which took us players less than five minutes to uncover after going live.
/sigh

@Cavadus
there's a reason a lot of us bailed shortly after launch, and it wasn't the forum pvp that's for sure.
I personally can only hold out optimistically for so long before its obvious when the ships going to sink, hell I played SWG through the NGE for a long long time, but ER....its just not there. It should have been in the cooker for another year. damn shame too....gonna use the P word.....
it had potential

you should be listening to this guy, he is a big fan of the game not some troll and if he is telling you it's bad, it is bad.
This is Cantu btw, remember me from the post launch forums? You all called me a troll for pointing out the game would flop, guess who saved their $63 and is laughing at you all now?

I have to say that I played it in beta and was underwhelmed. I am now playing the full, thanks to Massively, and still find it rather lacking in fun. Its too bad because it had so much promise. Will stick with it through the "free" period, but on current form doubt I go any further.

Is there any trial for this game yet?
Game looks interesting, but would be nice to try it out for a little bit before deciding on buying it.

is this game worth trying? I remember reading it did not had such a good launch and after having been burned with other launches I wanted to wait and see. Please don't troll, just want to know if it is worth it or not :)

@arodriguezc It's not unless you can somehow try it for free.

@arodriguezc no it absolutely 100% is NOT worth you dropping any cash on.i played from launch day to april..and the game is trash..would take a year of patches to get it ready for a real release..this company is absolutely terrible..took 2 months to add inventory stacking..before that you had to do it on your own..every SINGLE ITEM.
.pvp..took 3 months to implement something to stop people from alt f4ing to get away from pvp...yea this drove alot of people away.apparently when launching there game they must have thought some honor system would make people not wanna exploit this.performance...yea the game has and still does run like trash..the way it loads textures is a joke.there is NO POINT to the game...no end game features its GRIND GRIND GRIND GRIND GRIND then for a change of pace GRIND GRIND GRIND..
..Territory wars is coming soon but with the terrible net code its gonna suck since having more then 6 guys on screen turns it into a slide show(no this isnt our computers).even with the TW coming...that is ALL there is to do...nothing else..and from what i can tell they have no other end game planned at all....so you grind grind grind protect your base or take one..grind grind grind.they take months to add mundane features..if this is the engine being used in the fall out mmo i fear for its future.
the 1 thing..AND I DO MEAN the 1 and only thing positive to say about this game is the crafting system itself is very advanced and is pretty nice.
sorry about the wall of text i did try to space it a bit but i wanted to make sure you understood how bad this game really is...i have played almost every big name( and indie) mmo for the past 7 years and this is the worst one i have ever played...

Yeah, still playing. There just aren't any other options. I like PvP, twitch combat, science fiction setting, skill systems, crafting... there's just absolutely nothing else for me to play :-\
All I can do is trudge on in the hopes that post-launch development eventually makes this game enjoyable. I'll that at the very least they've committed themselves to fixing their damn GFX engine after TW is released.
It'll be nice once that's underway.

Horrible game
They couldn't pay me to play it.
So glad I got to see this P.O.S. in beta and the crooks at masthead never saw a cent of my money.
