Yesterday's flyover of Lion's Arch was a big hit with those anticipating Guild Wars 2, made even better with a follow-up blog post from content designer Matthew Medina.
Matthew jumped in to expand on what we saw in the video by giving an extensive look at the design process. It's an interesting combination of virtual architecture, NPC-watching, and attention to details both large and small that works to create such a detailed location. As Matthew puts it, "[W]e're infusing Lion's Arch with all the little touches that we hope will make your downtime between personal story steps and dynamic events as entertaining and immersive as possible!"
The blog post, which includes a new map of Lion's Arch, walks readers through the entire process, beginning with the foundation of a city and ending with final touches such as NPC chatter and visual details.

Release date/window yet? We gonna get one at E3? Before the end of this year maybe? Been in development for 4 years now.

@Anticrawl 4 years isn't really that long as far as MMO development goes. In most cases announcing the game right after starting the development would have been premature, but they had to explain why they were cancelling their "new campaign every six months" plan and making Eye of the North instead.

@Eamil Four years isn't long for development, but a year and a half of hype mode and god only knows how much more IS long and it's starting to wear me out. I wish they'd either say when it's coming out or stop releasing info until they are ready for launch.

Hm... I'm sensing an impending hype-match between ArcheAge and GW2. Let's hope they both are winners and live up to what they're promising.
A lot of the GW2 vids we've seen have been scripted in-game footage with tilted camera angles and rapid zoom in/out shots. It would be nice to see actual footage of Lions Arch with a UI to know how our characters will interact with the city -- what it will look like on our computer screens.

Rubi: The source link is kinda messed up, somehow the current page on Massively is being tacked onto the front page of the URL. If I click on the link from here it looks like this:

All games nearing release will be hyped. Arenanet seems to be doing an exceptionally good job of marketing. Aside from the occasional trailer and generic press release ArcheAge has offered little in this regard. This is not surprising as there is not yet a U.S. publisher for the game. Its time will come in a year or two.

expecations... anticipation ... it is almost to the point where anything, no matter how great, may be a let down.
