New details regarding ArcheAge's extensive non-combat gameplay have emerged, and AAportal.net has a three-part breakdown of the game's labor system, ship-building, and house construction mechanics. The labor system ties ArcheAge's various crafting, gathering, and construction sub-systems together under one umbrella and provides the player with a pool of labor points that power most of the activities. The points accrue at fixed intervals (whether you're online or not). There also appears to be some delineation in the point possibilities afforded to high-level users and their low-level counterparts (AAportal cites "more luxurious activities" like dance parties as possible labor point expenditures for more advanced players).
Ship construction will necessitate a group effort due to the considerable resource requirements. Hull plans are purchased from NPCs and activated at the shipyard, at which point the player will see a basic frame in drydock. After players deposit the requisite resources and set the payment for their NPC workers, enterprising ship captains will be able to view the construction process. Sailing a ship involves factors ranging from tidal currents, to wind strength, to the angle of the mast, as well as managing your player crew (each member of which has a distinct job on the ship).
Housing is similarly involved, with yards, farms, and furniture crafting available. Houses can also be built anywhere in the world and come in various types, sizes, and architectural styles. Head to AAportal.net for all the details.

I wonder if they really mean angle of mast. The angle of a mast (rake) is a rather interesting point to be simulating, it can affect a boat's sailing characteristics pretty severely. I think it's more likely that they meant direction of the wind.
I mean, don't get me wrong... the idea of a robust sailing simulator built into the game makes me very, very happy. But of all the things they could simulate there are more important things than mast rake.

It could be a translation issue. A lot of the info that comes out of the Korean beta is subject to revision because it's usually being translated by fans rather than representatives of XL.

@Grumms Western release has yet to be announced so if you ware waiting on that then it will be after 2012. End of 2011 to early 2012 is the expected Korean release date, but if you are waiting for the Korean release date then why not just join open beta in November. ^_^

I sincerely hope it does well when it's released. I really want a good sandbox game to play.

Man this looks to seriously trump LotRO's non-combat options and no mistake.
And that screenshot? I want to go to there.

I wish a non-griefer mmo would go into that much detail. From reading on their website its going to be a PVP ambusher's dream.

Not necessarily. From what I've read, two of the three continents are PvE/consensual PvP, with the third existing for the FFA/castle-siege crowd.

Maybe a better solution would be to do it by shard. I wonder if losing out on 1/3 of the content will be a big dampener for a lot of people. I do like the RvR stuff from DOAC, but if they combine it with normal questing and adventuring its going to turn off a lot of people as people will feel like they have to engage in PVP in order to play PVE.

If this game can live up to just a fraction of its promise, it will be a winner.

Do we have any idea who will be publishing this in EU/US?

After reading about ArcheAge I don't even see the point in playing current MMOs, they just seem so old, dated, and one dimentional.
