The September launch rumour that first appeared towards the end of last year has always looked convincing to me.

@Renko I was under the same impression but the outside possibility of January makes me believe they are aiming for November-December.

So it could come out in July or.....December. A six month window is about as vague as you can get. Probably came up with that so people would stop asking.

I don't know, 17 planets worth of content and a 2011 release ? I sense a great disturbance in the force.

I believe a release projection when I can pre-order it. Not much news here IMHO.

EA actually told investors TOR might not come out until 2012. They also told EA investors ME 3 isn't coming out until 2012.

I'm sure EA investors aren't happy.

@Alex Oglitchkin

This site confuses me. I thought Massively WAS from joystiq, now I see those are separate articles about the same topic (?)

Joystiq (your parent site) is reporting more date waffling that took place in the investor phone calls after the doc came out - thus adding further speculation that it may not come out until the end of Q4 (March).

@thehiredgun

Hmm, granted, there's always the possibility, but they also said this:

"We give it a ship date range of fiscal Q2 to fiscal Q3 for Star Wars, and so Star Wars shipping earlier, ie Q2 vs. Q3 is factored into the 90 cent upper range."

This seems to suggest that the launch date is likelier to be in Q3 of 2011 than in Q4 or beyond.

I hate sounding like a pessimist, but my money is on a December 2011 release.

@tythimo

Always good to be cautious, but I am glad it is coming out this year.

I bet he waffled because corporate tries to cover their patooties, just in case they can't/don't make a targeted release date.

I mean, at least it's not "Next year"!

I wonder what Blizzard plans to do to stifle the launch. They're not just going to sit idly and let a potential contender wonder in.

What would Blizzard do ?

Simple: Bundle Wow and all its expansions for 19.99$ a mere 3 weeks before launch.

Add a new expansion with world content and their new cross server open world techniques 3 months after SWTOR launches.

People forget Blizzard has all the data stats, they know exactly what, why and where people play. Their server data are one giant rat labo of player behaviour by now.

I am quit convinced WOW will still have more than 50% of the market in 2013.

And yes I am sure lots of people will try out SW:TOR for a few months.

But within 3 - 4 months everyone and his dog will go back to the newest WOW exapansion (on schedule for Apr 2012: see the leaked planning on the web).

I think Diablo 3 could be more of a thread to their subs, so I expect a little "all in" sub of 5$ to D3, unless... of course you have a WOW sub.

Plans of mortals are frail.

I'd be surprised if we see it before the actual year 2012.

Here's hoping it's pre 2012 as it's not entirely out of the question looking at the Joystiq site.

But I'd make a quess at since ME3 has been put back they're thinking of throwing this out in time for the big consumer push in and around Christmas.

Makes sense I guess for them financially anyway...doesn't help my nerves any though =(

By this time next year (2012) we STILL won't be playing SW:TOR (to be clear: because it didn't launch yet). You heard it here first.

BioWare delayed the release of Mass Effect 3 to Q1, 2012.

So it is highly likely they release SWTOR Q4, 2011.

I don't see them release both ME3 and SWTOR during the same time frame.
