It hasn't been an easy ride for Sony Online Entertainment customers this week, as it looks like the PSN hack has affected them as well. The company is already working on a plan to make up the outage to players, especially the DC Universe Online customers who have been doubly hit. And as we all know, the road to mending fences starts with a nice hat, which has just recently been revealed on the former game's Facebook page.
According to the official statement, all DC Universe Online players impacted by the outage will receive a free month of game time plus one day per day that the service was unavailable. Players will also be receiving a new Batman-inspired mask as shown above. Precise details will be made available to players in the coming days as network service begins restoration, and while the hat won't cure all woes, it will at least help ease the sting.

This is the worst possible thing for a struggling game.
1. Hard to think anyone with a monthly sub would want to re-up if they were on the fence about keeping it current after this.
2. Lifetime members can play anytime and because of that, probably won't be rushing back to play when servers are back up.
3. Can't imagine anyone new wanting to try it out due to the problems and even if so, because of #1 and #2, who would they be playing with?

As a lifetimer, I sure hope we will get the Station Cash equivalent to the subscription time other players are getting. It would be a fair way to deal with this; identically valued compensations, with Lifetimers getting some extra flexibility due to their greater financial commitment to the game (and the fact game time is useless to them).

I just want my money back. They breeched the privacy contract between SOE and the users. No matter how much they are throwing at users, the damage is done and there's nothing they can do to come back from this.
They are making the TJX breech look mild in comparison, the responses have been hollow and the blame game is just annoying people. The simple fact they've had the breech is enough to discourage people from purchasing Sony products, but these responses are actually angering people.

It cool, but it reminds me more of the Earth-3 Owlman mask http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Owlman_(comics)

Well, Owlman is Batman-inspited, being his Earth-3 counterpart and all.

LOL really? We didn't keep your personal info confidential, allowed the theft of your credit card info, and the service has been down, so here, have a mask for in one of our games. This just comes off as an insult to me.

@(Unverified) This is on top of the 30 day free play time + free days for the time the Station service was down.

@PaperSpeaks Not being able to play games for a week is hardly the real problem, now is it? What good is a pixel mask and a month free play time when some asshat out there has your account info and credit card number?
I can't believe people are foaming over not being able to play, rather than the fact that their personal information has been compromised. Shows you where many gamers' priorities lie.

I am just correcting on the fact that there will be more compensation, if it matters or not, I have my own opinions.

IMO SWG should get 2 loot cards of what they want to pick and 30days free

One important piece of information that everyone is overlooking is that even if they offer this free time, this game is in a drastic state as population bleed was on the hemorrhaging level just before the hack. When these servers go back online, a mask will not bring anyone back. This game needs some new content quickly and this downtime should have allowed them to have this ready.
After the free thirty days and the server merges, this game is going to be a giant ghost town on the PS3 as people have already moved on.
If they wanted to give everyone a chance, release Update 3 and lets get some time with Green Lantern/Sinestro as PVP Legends.
