@Thasri

This is not going to be a grindfest game.

@Thasri Stop stereotyping Not all Asian influenced MMOs are grindfest. Learn (read) about the game before you jump to wild accusations.

As a aesthetic I approve off it's amazing looking graphics and the fluid but also beautifull character animations. But as a gamer I worry about it's unspoken content.

1: "Content" can mean "quests", which in turn can mean courier/kill/gather quests. "Can never run out of content" is a flat out lie - Even Blizzard with it's billion dollar backing can't keep up with the pace players are going through the content. Promises are something else than actual delivery, devs can promise a lot and not deliver as has been shown dozens, if not hundreds of times over the past decade.

2: Charge/cast times are cooldowns by a different name. As i explained before, it's a game mechanic that prevents players from spamming the same skill a hundred times within a second. Almost any game, let alone an MMO, will not work without such a mechanic in place for player abilities, since it removes 'time' from the equation and basically makes insta-win possible, which is not fun.

3: Yes, i can compare B&S with WoW and L2. All 3 are mmo's set in a fantasy world and they have very similar gameplay. Most importantly, all 3 are marketed at the same audience. Not many people maintain more than 1 mmo subscription, hence the comparison is valid. Why does MMO x deserve my money over MMO y? In this regard, EVE, Fallen Earth and WoW all compete with each other, no matter how some people cry that they don't.

4: I concede the point that B&S has some original background to it.

5: "It has no tab targetting, it auto-targets" - Do i even have to argue my point on this? The video you posted as an argument for it having hit detection, well, i'll go over it for you.
- AOE skills (just like in other mmo;s) hit several targets within range at the same time. Even though the axe in the video hits some targets before others, the damage is done at the same time, which tells me it's a basic range check on the skill - IE: no classic hit detection.
- Notice how at about 18 seconds the swings the axe in the middle of the pack but only one mob is hit? That's a single target skill. IE: no classic hit detection.

6: If there is any advantage whatsoever being gained by getting better gear, people will grind for it. People will think they HAVE to grind for it. It's human (mmo-player?) nature. It's the one thing that MMO designers count on because a grind ensures a high retention rate on the game, that is, people staying subscribed longer. If there is no sense of progression, only the hardcore audience will keep playing the game for any length of time, but that audience is too small for an MMO with the production values of B&S to survive on.

7: There won't be any "castle sieges" in the game. However, they can make a subgame about controlling farms and herding sheep as a way of territory control, and the devs will keep their promise about not making castle sieges. If i say "chicken" i don't mean "cow", so why assume i said "cow" too?

The game hasn't been released yet, and i hope it defeats my expectations, though right now it doesn't look like it will. I'll hold off my final judgement untill i've actually tried it, but given the available evidence it doesn't look very good.

Say, you wouldn't happen to have actually played it? Or are you just reciting interviews and misinterpreting videos? I don't mean this in a condencending way - I've played a LOT of mmo's over the past 12 years, and it's become more and more of a trend to promise a lot and deliver nothing. I've learned to withhold my enthusiasm for any game, especially MMO's, untill i've had a chance to actually play them. If i put my expectations very low, it can only surprise me by being better than i thought it would be, so it's a win-win.

And on that note, i *will* be trying out B&S when it gets an open beta or trialin the west.

I wish my Gnome Mage could do that in WoW. With streamers flying from her pigtails as she glides down gracefully and acrobatically from the Lumber Mill in AB only to land a well placed Fire Blast on a big ugly Orc Warrior guarding the BS flag point with hand movements that would be envy all Naruto characters. /dreams

these three videos actually make me feel less excited about this game.
which is a shame.

i can only assume that these are poorly played PvP videos.

The pvp looks nice for now, but I'm a bit scared on how they will balance the game out. I can see some "I win" moves being used over and over if there isn't a big enough CD on it. The biggest turnoff to me was the running thru a player in the 2nd video. I want collision detection. Pvp in WoW is awful because as a melee I just run right thru the target trying to stay on it's back. Granted this is a early version of the game so far I'd say it's a 3 out of 5 stars.

@Alex Oglitchkin

This is not a game you just spam moves mindlessly. Your button-mashing "I win" moves will be countered and punished by a more skilful player.

@Jade Effect Ya because you've totally played the game and/or take the producers word for it? Aion talked big on their pvp and look how that ended up.

When a story about a new game is published online it always seems to draw baseless criticism from trolls. "Just another Asian grinder" is a frequent refrain. WoW seems to spawn these creatures in large numbers.

Claiming that B&S is a reskinned version of some other game is worse than inane. B&S shows great promise of being a refreshing change from the same old same old we see in games like Rift.

Unfortunately for us, Korean game publishing practice first builds the game in Korea from initial release via expansions. Games are then localized for Japan and China. The relatively minor North American and European markets, alas, usually come last. TERA Online is an exception in this regard. It may be years before we see B&S here.

It may be a surprise to some that a Korean company, NCSOFT, owns Arenanet. Guild Wars and GW2 development was financed with Korean money.
