As much as I've been looking forward to a Marvel MMO, I don't know if I'm interested in one where I play as a preexisting character. To me, part of the thrill of an MMO is the character creation process to make my character my own.

Amen, brother! It baffles me why they wouldn't just give people the freedom to choose?

Why is it that time and time again, devs in general always seem to be blinded toward what 'they' deem makes for a great MMO. These devs in particular seem to be missing the main draw of an MMO. The freedom to create, build and develop a character you can call your own!

Damn, I need to work for some of these MMO companies! I could be head of the department called COMMON SENSE! Yeah, that department! The one that seems to be missing from most of the dev companies out there.

Let those that have zero creativity play as predefined characters. However, I want to flex my creative muscles!

Now, give players the freedom to choose before you make me angry! You wouldn't like me when I'm angry!

HULK...SMASH!!!

Agreed. Playing iconics has just turned me off this title almost completely (only the F2P bit is keeping me in the "will try it out").....really not interested in playing Wolverine #79547as it were.

I don't think I'll be touching this. Playing only as existing marvel characters? What's the point? If I wanted to play as Spider-Man or Hulk I'd play one of their singleplayer games.

"The major villain? Doctor Doom."
Bet it took them a bunch of all-nighters to come up with that one.

As each new superhero MMO pops up, they try to get further and further away from City of Heroes because frankly they know they can't compete for the same niche. Extrapolating from this, the next one will be pretty much an ultra casual Farmville-style browser game.

@CitizenH There's already such a facebook game.

Doctor Doom has actually become the go to villain in the past few years. He's so much the kind of villain that they can always use. He's extremely potent, evil, but not crazy, and never fully reveals his intentions.

Mysterio being the main villain in Shattered Dimensions, now that was worth a chuckle.

But anyway, a F2P multiplayer game and you're so quick to compare it to the singleplayer games? Don't you have friends you enjoy playing games with from time to time?

They are following the same lines as Super Hero Squad, go figure. I wonder if they will have more than 2 zones. hah

So nothing is personal to you because you are playing a cookie cutter toon they already made up for you. Look I am playing Spiderman! OH wait a second, why is there 30 more Spidermen here at the bank with me? Let make team Spidermen and all of us have the same girlfriend as well! Way to go Disney!!

Throw in "Marvel Ultimate Alliance" in there, too.

And I would say, this is taking a few ques from existing Disney MMO fare (Pirates of the Caribbean and Toon Town and et al). They saythey aren't Disneyfying, but Disney is sorta written into this, especially the F2P move.

Previous comments have stated we'd be playing Iconics in this Maervel game, so I am not surprised, but I knew many would be.

F2P and you can't play your own creations? We'll see how triple AAA that ends up being.

Also, I'm not sure what they are talking about with their 'not a sidekick" comments. Neither DCUO, CO, nor COHV treats the heroes as sidekicks. There is level progression, but that is different.

Marvel is hands down my favorite comic company, Spider-Man is bar none my favorite super hero of all time, But does that mean I wanna play as him? No... I don't want to play through a story as someone's already made character!

All I got from this interview was a major let down, for a number of reasons. FTP means I'm gonna be nickle and Dimed my way through the game with a character I didn't even create? Pass.

While we are on the subject of Disney... Hey Disney, Where is my Tron MMO?

I'm seeing this game as Marvel Ultimate Alliance Online. We already have DCUO. Don't need another beat em up even if it has crafting.

Its Free so that tells me they're going to throw a smaller budget into development. That pretty much means no wall crawling/running, swinging or interesting mechanics.

I will play this game when it becomes P2P...they pay me to play.

I wish that someone would take the super hero genre seriously and give us a complete game. I SO hope Titan is a super hero MMO. I doubt it is but I will be wishing upon every shooting star I see.

How are they going to handle duplicates of the same character? Server segregation?

I don't think a game with 1 million Wolverines is going to work.

Probably some sort of instancing and LFG feature. You designate yourself as Wolverine and the game will search for Cyclops, Beast, Jean Grey...etc.

Not being able to create your own superheroes and the F2P model is a big letdown. Hopefully GW2, SWTOR and ArcheAge will be so great and available when this game launches, I won't even care.

@Draccan Same boat, I was interested in MUO and after learning that players will be playing the pre-existing character I have lost all interest.

However those who wanted this from DCUO might just find their game in MUO so some good comes out of this (just not for me and that's just fine).
