The first round of Ask Cryptic: Champions Online for the month of April was a bit on the short side, at least compared to its Star Trek Online counterpart. Happily, Champions producer Rob Overmeyer is back with a second segment that is quite a bit longer than its predecessor.
The encore covers a wide range of superhero-related questions from the free-to-play title's fans including the next power set revamp (telekinesis), feedback acknowledgment and pricing adjustments regarding the controversial costume slots, and some interesting bits about the last 10 levels of the game (as well as future level cap increases).
"In order to increase the level cap we need to update how itemization and rewards work post-40. This is something that we are actively discussing now. Revamping rewards is a huge task and there are no quick solutions," Overmeyer explains. There's a lot more interesting Champions info to be found in part two of this month's Ask Cryptic, so head to the official website and see for yourself.

@Tempes Magus Uh, you can play the game entirely for free. 1-40, completely for free, and do well with the silver archetypes. I don't think any other game gives a free experience like that: most of the stuff that is paid is pure fluff.
You shouldn't complain, CO could have limited you to level 30, prevented you from using the AH, and not let you enter Vibora Bay.

As for the article. meh.
They don't NEED to fix ego blades, the bad part of the mentalist set was Telepathy. Outside of a few heals and one busted power, it's a useless set. It was designed for crowd control yet few of the CC abilities matter. Ego Blade is fine overall, and fixing them to make yet another paid archetype is annoying.
Most of this seems to me to be saying "If we can make money on it in the cash shop, it's getting done now. If we can't, it's going to be for next year." SIgh.

Yes, it is really horrible that they try to earn money to pay for the development costs and keeping the game running. You would think they would just long for the privilege of paying to get anyone to play if for free as much as they want.
While I do not agree with all their C-store decisions and what silver players can or cannot do, if it works for them that is fine. It is easy to vote with your wallet if you do not like and if enough people do that, it may change - after all, they lose money on not selling rather than sell some for a lower price.

Why should they give you a free character slot with the purchase of an archetype? They give you 2 slots per account... who says you can't have multiple accounts? I have 3 accounts, so I have 6 character slots. I have purchased 2 archetypes, and they are both on separate accounts.
Just enjoy what you have, you can experience the game from 1-40 and never spend a cent, enjoy yourself and let go of the nerd rage.
