Overlooking your well rounded completely negative point of view on the game I took a look at the UK Gameplay store price. It's a weekend special store promotion, not a price drop.

If you played the game you'de notice that most servers are no less populated than they used to be.

The issue with LFG in WOW isn't the tool itself but the fact that it fractures the community because it draws players from an entire Battlegroup instead of just the same server. The LFG tool in Rift is only for your server.

Hopefully they keep it same server only. Even if that increases the queue times.

@Drunken Irish Sniper

The reason cross-server LFGs suck is that it's all the ppl who are too terrible to get groups on world chat

I am still playing and enjoying Rift. Though a little more depth and story would not hurt I believe the game has plenty of mileage in it yet.

Cool, good set of new features coming. I'll be very happy to see the appearance system and anything that changes up Zone events will be welcome.

I'm hoping that reports are true and that the LFG system keeps things local in terms of players it will pull. Finding groups on Dimroot has actually been pretty easy since the soul system really does allow for some wiggle room. I am really loving DPS and I haven't had to tank (I usually tank in every mmo I play) for a while now. When we've needed some extra support, someone can change to a new role really quick and BOOM support heals or buffs and we're good. So I think we will find that the LFG system just speeds things up and gets you to the dungeon quicker.

As for the other changes, I am REALLY excited for all of them! It's very ambitious to be pouring this much into a single patch but Trion's ambition is something I've not seen in a while from many other developers. They are upping the level of dynamic content and adding 10 player raiding that is exclusive to 10 people, none of this "same place turned down/up for less/more people."

Also... Snow ninjas... That is all...

Amazing, look at this obsession with server populations and sales and other random things. Why are people so slimy that they want to see companies that are actually trying hard to make a successful game -- fail?

Trion is doing everything in its power to make a great game with constant updates and so much content. What is there to complain about? The fact that the game was on sale? Really?

Trion is a new up-and-coming company, it isn't a Goliath like Blizzard of Bioware. Yet they pretty much are updating and keeping their game up like a company that has been around a while.

Everyone needs too relax. When Devs start being lazy attack them. They are trying and are working hard. Rift is a good game, back off a little. Take your negative gripes and punch a pillow because it sounds a little pathetic.

@Sharuk

PPL are not obsessed with server populations. PPL are trying to PROGRESS on those servers and that is just totally impossible with the huge amount of low populated ones.

It should be their top priority to give players the chance to enjoy their game. Atm server populations are preventing it. That is leaving more and more ppl leaving and chancelling subs on empty servers. And those ppl will not be coming back.

BS. Plenty of people are progressing through raids. It requires an organized guild / raid group, not high server pop.

Hartsman said that the devs noted players valued more being able to participate in a time and place of their choosing rather than being able to say "I was there" at a specific point

NO NO NO

I was there when AQ opened. I was there when every wing of SWP opened. I was there when the Zombie Invasion hit full swing. And I was there when Alsbeth tried to take over the world. If you make things last longer they don't have any impact. Why is the opening of AQ gates such a big deal if the event happened on loop? Why is Phase 2 important if it happened on loop? It's not! Just because some people missed it because they couldn't be dedicated enough doesn't mean it needs to be changed!

I'm skeptical on the LFG system...lets just call it the LFD system because it sounds just like WoW.

Cross server dungeons in WoW has allowed the community to devolve into what it is today. I hope to god it is your server only, but I doubt it. A little piece of me will die in side with this feature. What's so bad with just a LFG window like WoW had before the LFD system?

There was a mention of not enough content in rift at launch and I just like to add that world of warcraft was also lacking in content at launch if anyone bothers to look into it. Actually its amazing the game even survived the first few months because of the huge dramas at launch and all the rage quitters popping up everywhere.

Now as for LFG I am happy for this as long as it doesn't go cross server its fine. Also porting to a dungeon still requires one player to enter the dungeon for all to be ported and I don't see that as a bad thing.

I played wow from beginning and wow was not all bells and whistles at launch in a long way.

Lack of end game content is a myth. Rift today has more end game content than WoW, period. 4.1 will close the gap but Trion isn't sitting idle and Bliz devs are slow so...

Nobody commenting on
"a good portion of the playerbase is at max level, something Hartsman and the team planned on for this point in the game's lifespan "
Does this not strike anyone else as pretty bad that this early in it's launch it's a "good portion max level"? They WoW-ified this waaaay too much...

@Saker

"A good portion" is not exactly a quantitative measure. It could mean 10% just as easily as 50%. I don't recall the exact interview, but I believe Hartsman stated awhile back that they purposely did not want to make leveling a long and grinding process. They WANT people to get to endgame, which is where they are and will continue to focus. Why would it strike you as "pretty bad" if a large part of the playerbase is max level anyway?

So at least one of the features he mentioned is already in game. The whole bit about taking multiple dungeon quests. You already can. I really don't like it when a dev makes it seem like a feature is new when it is in game already. The AoC guy that got fired did that all the time back in the day.

@paraLogiki It may be that "feature" was an error that they didn't intend when the game released. The first draft of the 1.2 patch notes seem to indicate that they were correcting it so that you couldn't store up the dailies and had to complete them on the day you took the quest or loose it.

Perhaps they have had a change of mind due to the response on the Rift forums, it wouldn't be the first time that an error has been turned into a feature.
