It's been a quiet month or so following Warhammer Online's 1.4.1 patch, so it's a relief to see Mythic swinging back into action with the sequel: patch 1.4.2. The servers are coming down this morning and should be back up and ready for action by 1:00 p.m. EDT.
According to the patch highlights, patch 1.4.2's main focus will be on improving WAR's Tier 4 RvR combat. Power levels and power gaps are due for a tune up, and Mythic claims to have taken in a lot of feedback about the end game in order to make these changes.
As it's done in the past, Mythic is changing the scenario lineup for this new update, temporarily retiring some of these PvP instances while bringing others back online. The patch will also introduce a couple additional vanity pets, including the powder monkey and imp skeleton, which can be purchased via the EA Store. Some of these pets give you 5% additional gold when you loot corpses, making them very desirable indeed.
[Update: Mythic has posted the full 1.4.1 patch notes for your perusal!]

And you call this patch ? New content ? Nope. New featuers ? Nope. New scenarios? Nope
SAme stuff.. with numbers tweaks. Hopefully bringing in few more nubs so that RR 100 ppl have someone to 1 shot in 1-2 months.
What a total joke of a "patch"

Exactly! For a PvP game, patches are all about numbers / fixes / tweaks.
I think the OP might be under the mistaken impression that WAR contains PvE content.

It contains PVE content - it just not developed anymore. Cause the 10 staff running the game dont have the development power to make anything of it.
WAR will close down 6 months after SWTOR is out. They wont do it sooner cause it hurts the rep of EA and Bioware.

For the sake of the game I hope the patch is successful. I'm worried that MDPS in offensive gear will be more overpowered later today. The melee train seems to be overwhelmingly the dominant mode of play.

This post made me visit WAR's website. I just don't get what they're trying to do here. The latest news on the front page shows a date of 9/1. They also have a link to "Paul's Video Blog" which shows 2009 as the most recent update. They keep saying "WAR is alive and well" but their website screams "The game is dead!"
I had an inkling to resub, but one look at the website turned me off. I can't be the only one.

How is this game doing these days?

It's still playable. It can be fun at times. I still haven't found a good pvp replacement for it. I'm not hopeful for more development. What we're seeing now is the remaining staff trying to correct horrible balance errors introduced when they increased the renown cap. Once the dust settles from today's patch and more tweaks are made, who knows what kind of development we'll see.

"Pretty sure they will call next update to wepage a patch"
although I do not always agree with you, this made my day. I have tried to give this game more than one chance and when there is people in it, it can be a great game but I would log in and found no one. I wish they would just go F2P and let more ppl join (endless trial is not F2P). You can hire some staff back and work on fixing the game and releasing some actual content.

I was so pumped about this game when I first heard about it years ago. I am sad to see Warhammer Online in this current condition. Hopefully someone else will make an MMO worthy of having Warhammer as its title.

This game makes me sad. I wanted to like it so much! But it wouldn't run well on my computer (I had a great computer, could play Crysis with ease, but this game just wouldn't run well) It was also glitchy and seemed a bit unbalanced. *Sad face*
