WoW's become a bad joke. The reason for its continued success? Lots of people with a tasteless sense of humor.

The FBI raid in Ann Arbor hit University Towers, a pair of (fairly bleak and run-down) apartment buildings, not a dorm. It has no relationship with the University of Michigan beyond sitting really close to one campus.

Funny, how a blog called "Massively" is most popular with haters of the only really massive MMO.

I would think that EVE (I'm not an EVE player myself) and World of Tanks (also not a player), basically games that are able to put 10000+ players and 5000+ in a single battle are much more "massive" that WoW, which has barely the capability to put 100 players together in the open world.

Weird, every time I hear about an eve "epic space battle" it involves the server crashing.

As for World of Tanks, from wikipedia:
"Each team can have no more than 30 players in it; therefore the maximum possible number of combat units at the battlefield is 60."

I guess our definition of "able" is different.

@ahac It's not just the MMO thats bad, it's the player base. Read the comments on WoW insider, you'll see. People say things like, "I was deepsing the adds, and the other deeps were deepsing the boss..." /facepalm

I've come to understand that server stability has been greatly improved and is continuing to do so. Time shift I think it's called looks to be promising.

And I think the clan wars feature of world of tanks functions differently with a more persistent world battle type thing. I could be wrong, I'm not very familiar with the game.

Probably because we realize it's a massive waste of time, and the general community is basically what you get when you mix every internet/gamer stereotype in existence with 4chan and an MMORPG.
