The results are in from CCP's create-a-ship contest for EVE Online, and CCP Guard has posted the official results on the game's forum. A player by the name of Alexey M takes home the top prize for his Mentor Battlecruiser, as well as $900 and a gaggle of EVE-related swag (including a one-year sub to the game and one of CCP's swanky ship models).
Four runners-up didn't do too badly either. Each of them walked away with a cool $600 and an EVE prize pack. In addition to the winning Mentor, which you can ogle in the image above (and which will be making its way into the live game in short order), CCP has published all of the finalists' handiwork on its website.

Has it been officially stated anywhere that this will appear in game?

Article says it's making it's way into the game in short order. Looks nice btw.

I know the article says short order but nowhere has ccp stated these ships will be used in game, if I remember correctly the rules said winning doesn't mean a ship will be included in the game, only the deviant competition had an in game model as a prize.
Look forward to clarification both from the article writer on their source or on a ccp page.

Love love love the Serval. Sirocco is a wicked name for a Minmatar ship (esp. given the "Hurrican" and "Cyclone" theme).
There is a weirdly large number of Amarrian ships here, even for an EVE ship design contest. What's up with that?

That is a weird way to answer my question...by the same token, Caldari ships are more preferred for PvE, and Caldari ships are far and away the most common ships in use in the game (look at the recent annual report), but I don't know what that has to do with the prevalence of Amarrian ships in the contest...

Well obviously I meant Tornado, just couldn't remember it. Names mean and sound alike.
