Oh, this is really cool. And the Faceless Man! He's my favorite NPC so far.

@Irem

Not sure why anyone would want to invest time into a game where you can literally watch the server population fall on a daily basis:

It's dead, move on.

Indeed! Why would anyone want to play on a game with a population that is dwindling?

Its nice they plan to get the lore rolling for these stories, unfortunately its a bit late for alot of folks, myself included. With less than poor customer service and Trion being pounded by the BBB i cannot see keeping a sub with these folks, they had alot of potential, they delivered partially on product but failed on the service portion of their contracts with consumers. i was really liking the epic storyline up to the broken points.

@Irem, yes the faceless man is pretty cool, especially when he one shots guardians in stillmoor portal ganking, i will miss that a bit. (grin)

Next on the block, GW2 and TOR :P

@Graill440 I couldn't agree more they should have been feeding us this before the game launched not make it look like it was tacked on after the fact which it was.

I am about as far from a WoW fan as you can get but this is the Blizzard difference they create characters you actually give a Damn about.

The Afterthought lore, lack luster quest system and Abysmal music score really were major turn offs for me.

Now that your claim of "Trion being pounded by the BBB" is just proven to be bunk. What do you mean by "alot of folks'? That is, what numbers are we talking about here? And what is your sources?

@Puremallace BBB is worthless. I'm no fan of rift, but the BBB is a place where trolls downrate businesses they are pissed at.

Meh. Blizzard has done almost nothing but turn characters who were great in WC3 into pale shadows of themselves, find lame excuses to turn lore characters into raid bosses, and introduce newer characters that nobody likes such as Varian Wrynn and Garrosh Hellscream. There are some cool characters which they managed not to totally screw up like Tirion Fordring, but almost every lore move they've made since BC has been face-palm worthy.

Blizzard may have the coolest cinematic sequences and decent voice acting, but I don't find myself give a damn about most of the lore characters anymore. The real kicker was when they turned the Lich King into a lame Saturday morning cartoon villain.

Just want to add, Trion is listed as C- mainly because they are "unlisted" with the BBB. You cannot see any actual reviews.

For comparison, Blizzard's reviews have 2 stars out of five (going to their BBB profile shows them as "B", but the reviews listed lead to the 2 stars average review):

http://www.trustlink.org/Reviews/Blizzard-Entertainment-205737049

So as another poster said, the BBB site is pretty useless as it's a place for just trolls to complain. Not many people bother to contact the BBB if someone is doing a great job.

@Dunraven

The lore isn't afterthought. In fact it's one of the few MMOs that rationalizes the repeated deaths in MMOs in the lore.

The quest system is quite standard. Lackluster? Not really. It has everything that a decent quest system needs. But it doesn't have any innovations there.

Abysmal sound tracks? Sorry but I disagree. The sound in the game is quite awesome.

And lol at all the trolls that "aren't" WoW fans.
If you worried more about WoW, which has been having a steep decline in population since Cataclysm instead of trolling Rift you would do much better.

@Graill440

Let me get this right... you stopped playing Rift on account of the BBB rating??!!

You must be the first player on the planet to care what they think of an MMO!

It amazes me what some come up with as a reason to pile on this game, it shows human nature at it's.... well, it's worst.

The OP here tries to relate lore, yet not 2 posts in to it the attacks start... I'm tired of it, I'm sure Massively is tired of it, and certainly if you are guilty of it... you should be tired of it.

We don't care if you hate the game, we don't care if you quit, we don't care if your life is a mess and to feel better you come here to vent and attack a game for everything under the sun.... it's a GAME for god's sake.

Does a simple thing like a back round story on lore have to turn in to a argument over the BBB? For some... yes, and it's pathetic.

@winterborn Point is that it isn't lacking there. It is there if you take the time. Not their fault everything is not spoon fed to you.

@dudemanjac I'm soooo glad someone else is seeing this. All these people whine and berate Rift for not having a deep story and it DOES. They're just too used to sitting and watching it go past. Sorry, but if you truly want to be engaged in the game and the storyline then you need to get out of your "bring it to me" mentality and actually pay attention to the world, explore, listen to NPCs, and stop just bee lining it between quest objectives. Anyone who has bothered to put any effort at all into learning about Telara will tell you that the lore is pretty interesting, deep and dynamic.

@(Unverified) YES! I click every single NPC I come across, I always ask the extra little bit of info that is open, and some things are really wonderful if people would just you know... CLICK! The storyline quests are also great. I'm a roleplayer, I will go look for lore via wikis and the like, so I admit that I will probably always find something. But I don't think I had to really LOOK for stuff. I just ... click :)
