Didn't Cryptic have zombie events in their original MMO as well?

Yeah, zombie invasions are a regular thing in City of Heroes. No big deal, unless you're stuck with a street-sweeping mission in that zone.

This sounds more like a shorter version of that damnable plague that made WoW unplayable for a couple of weeks leading to the WotLK release as it turned even PvE servers into *SPIT* open-world PvP servers.

@The Ogre. That Zombie invasion was one of the greatest things that ever happened in WoW.
I was leveling my first Alliance toon and first Pally during that event and a Zombie vs Pally WPVP battle broke out in Westfall's little quest hub town.

I'm still disappointed the Zombie infection didn't get turned into a WotLK battleground, like the infection games in Halo.

This event is actually the Lvl 40 archtype PvP Zombie Apoc. I'm more interested in the new costume set that was updated today.

It seems almost like every game has zombie events. And while zombies are "fun", they get old quickly.

Yay! Champions Online players rejoice! Yet ANOTHER event/feature/aspect of the game taken directly from City of Heroes. If Cryptic would actually devote a little money, it might actually catch up someday!

Seriously though, have they had an update in the past 15 months that doesn't echo a 4-5 year old update from CoH? I mean, the slightly more customization for "gold members" doesn't really make up for the huge lack of content, absence of anything original, and story lines that make Mother Goose seem complex and riveting.

It's just a GM hosting a normal Zombie Apocalypse match for level 40 Archetype characters. That means he is just going to be fighting with people, nothing special.

In CO they have a PvP match which has multiple players against a combination of waves of NPC zombies and a single human player in order to survive. If you die, you get turned into a zombie and go after the remaining players. It's fun.

I think the reason why they are doing this is because archetype PvP at the higher tiers is dead. ZA especially at T4 is pretty brutal with the difficulty increase, and archetypes aren't the best at defense. So they are having an event to lure more F2P players to play.

Unfortunately for sub players, unless you leveled an archetype to 31+ you can't participate, as its being held in the archetype only bracket.

@Tempes Magus You'd kill the subscription market though. CO doesn't have enough content yet to go pure freemium, and a lot of it is optional. F2P games need consistent subscription content to make money as well as heavy shop use.

It's not that bad in practice though, and archetypes actually make the game more challenging, though a little less flashy in level-ups.

It's funny that Massevly don't even talk about the stat of the forum theses days, the community has been rioting for a few days now, and began to finally get some answers from the devs about the game's future...
Oh, well. I guess a GM doing pvp with a bunch of players is a more important coverage.
