Forget the Starship Enterprise -- the 23rd century apparently has more interesting tales to tell with a wild blend of steampunk and fantasy. If the world of ARGO Online has intrigued you, then you'll be a-jitter with excitement to know that burda:ic's latest title is going into open beta today.
The team's also posted a new interview with SongQwo, the head of ARGO Online's development. How does he feel about how it turned out? "I am very proud of the game. I'm actually quite popular -- for my kids and their friends and schoolmates I'm sort of a celebrity... And after the last steps of optimization, we think that ARGO became a quite nice game."
ARGO Online's been proceeding on course through a series of closed beta tests over the past few months, so the announcement of open beta is a good indication that the game is nearing launch. You can check it out for yourself by signing up at the official site.

I was really excited about this game when I saw the details. Got into CB, downloaded, logged on...... 90% of the classes are female only... I think there were only 2 classes that you could play as a male character.
I absolutely detest gender locked classes, especially when there is not an even remotely even split of male/female.
Sadly have to pass on this :-/

@Rindon Not that big a deal considering all male characters in Asian MMOs seem to be severely gender confused.

I wasn't terribly impressed during CB and, frankly, no caster-type male characters really ruins the immersion factor for me. I want a character that I feel is mine, which doesn't come when I have boobs or am playing a class that I normally wouldn't- just because I want to be male.

@Rindon I respect game developers, and I am sure that an MMO is one of the hardest genres to craft, but I think they should make it more of a priority to add classes that aren't restricted by gender. =[

Having gender locked races is tolerable.
Having gender locked classes is just downright annoying.

I'm okay playing a different gender. I'll definitely be giving this a shot.

I cant help but laugh at people that dont play a game because of gender lock.

@Germaximus Why? If you're going to invest countless hours building a character up from scratch, then why would you roll a character you hate?
Believe it or not, some people actually choose to play MMO's for reasons beyond simply pwning n00bz

@cowboyhugbees It just cracks me up.
Its like playing the Batman video game and crying about not being able to play a female character.
Its just silly.
And if that example isnt good enough for you i really just dont care, the point is there.

Gender lock is the least of this game's worries, this game looks like it was suppose to come out 15 years ago. So much wrong, don't even bother.

I've been waiting for a good SteamPunk MMO. I'll give the OB a download.
