Rift is what World of Warcraft Cataclysm should have been. Dynamic events - More custimasation - more open class system.

Thats why I love RIFT. Its exactly what WOW didn't do. So I will sub for it.

@Deadalon

/\ This.

Its FUNNN. Yes, like WoW, but better.

With how young the game is you hae to be impressed by how far they are. Of course there are some much needed adjustments, but none of them are game breaking,

@Dartanis Why should be impressed with how far they are? They've only had to build a little off of what has already been out there for years.

Reading these comments like these in almost every MMO forum and blog make me feel sad for the MMO community. I have never seen a bunch of more whiny, entitled brats in any other forum or online community.

There is definitely a cry baby gene in most MMO fans.

To the people that are asking why so many Rift articles. 3 of the 5 most popular posts during last week are all Rift related. So Massively is doing their job giving people what they want.

Having come straight from WoW, I feel like Rift really is a breath of fresh air. Not in the sense that it's completely new, or that none of its ideas are recycled; I'd be lying if I were to say that. There's something about it that's fun to me, though. I started up a guild with a group of friends and it's been steadily growing ever since. We do dungeons runs, organized warfronts, etc.

It's nothing that we couldn't have done in WoW, but something about Rift just feels right to me. I know that a lot of people seem to disagree, but I can't explain it any better.

Agreed completely. My guild has been around since EQ, in one form or another. We've found our new home in Rift after playing WoW for years. Like your guild, we are seeing a growth in player base and membership as well.

But you're right. We could have stayed with WoW and done similar things. But after playing WoW for more than six years, the magic is gone, if you will. Rift is giving us a fresh world to play in, much more up to date graphics and a greater sense of community then we had in WoW. That isn't to say Rift doesn't have its flaws, but unlike most MMOs that have come out over the years, Rift was pretty much complete at launch, sans needing some raid zones added at end game. But, hey, at least we aren't having to 10 man Scholo or Strat and pretend that's a raid! ,-)

I agree as well. A friend of mine and I started in one of the last few open beta stages of Rift and thought we would give it a go. My wife wanted to play too so we shared an account for a while but then we decided to get her a separate account so we could play at the same time. We realized later that another guildy of ours from WoW had gotten Rift too and he started playing on our shard. I was apprehensive about either joining or forming a guild of my own but once I pulled the trigger and joined a guild after running with them in DSM we started having a lot more fun.

While we could have just stuck it out in wow, it just hasn't been much fun for me lately. Rift has been fun, not just for me but all of my friends that have started playing it. We even talk about Rift with my fellow WoW guild mates that haven't gotten Rift and they seem interested and ask all sorts of questions about the game.

If anyone is on the fence about it, give the trial a go with an open mind. If you have an open mind and allow yourself to have fun, chances are you might have a good time.

I made a post in a different Rift article about my first impressions of Rift and that I was certainly disappointed by the stale and uninspired starting areas, however after some good replies I'm going to give it one more go on the next trial.

But what this post is for is to help anyone next time who is looking for a trial code. I got mine very easily by simply going to the Rift ZAM site and creating a free account with them and you're guaranteed a trial key that way. I even used a temp email account too so just do that next time and you shouldn't have any problems getting your codes early on.
