NCsoft aiming for Aion 2.5 test at the end of April

@Tizmah Long way? Not really mate, the vision trailer is version 3.0 of Aion and they are implementing the 2.5 version in May in US/EU and has been running for a while on the korean servers.

@paterah Right..Mark me down. Did you guys even watch the visions trailer? Aion hasn't come close to anything it showed still. My goodness. Sensitive fans are sensitive.

@Tizmah I'm not a fan actually, I don't even play the game, the 2.5 trailer and the vision trailer share _many_ similarities if you actually watched both of them, the graphics update which was showcased in the vision trailer is already being implemented in the 2.5 update most notably (there are many more changes other than fluff stuff in 2.5 btw, new customization system, class abilities, pets, ui changes), but of course trashtalking is that much easier than actually doing a bit of research before hitting the keyboard.

Talk about irony. And no, it isn't close to the visions trailer. I don't sub anymore, but I come back often enough during the free reactivation event to know.

@wfseg The last reactivation week which was a week ago did not include the 2.5 patch afaik.

That is why I said "if you are referring to the vision trailer" which is what most people talk about when they mention an update trailer related to Aion, but that was my fault for assuming.

on a more related note: I won't say it's about time since 2.5 hasn't come out yet (reserving my "took you long enough" until they at least announce its release date), but this is welcome news to be sure, as most people (that I have encountered anyway) have been sticking around just for this update. Aion has gotten a lot better since release and I'm hoping this will be another big step forward for the game.

Dude, really? I do not play AION because it was not my cup of tea, but at least have the decency of respecting their player base. Because you did not like it it does not mean that EVERYONE did not like it.

It IS the foundation for 3.0, just like 1.9 was for 2.0. The graphics update is just one part of that. The dozens (not exaggerating) of new outfits and weapons, the UI updates, the new instances, the mentor system, the updated legion system... all of that is just a precursor to the big expansion update that includes wholly new zones and game systems, such as the mounts, housing, and new siege system prominently featured in the Visions trailer.

Um...thousands? Maybe you don't but tons of people have newer or at least capable video cards. It doesn't take much to run Aion and I doubt the graphics overhaul is going to be THAT big of a difference. Even so there's no way a 5850 or even a 5770 wouldn't be able to run it on max.

Tbh? Aion Vision is movie which shows how they want/plan game to look after x period of time and after x patches. Tbh? Haters/falmers will still flame/hate the game, but you can't denied the fact they are step by step giving us things showed in Aion Vision movie, but these things won't be given in one massive patch, but patch by patch.

Few things were already introduced with 2.0 (like costumes, pets u can see in Aion Vision), another one will be introduced in 2.5 (improved graphic, improved pets ect.). So yeah I dare to say it laud that in this case (Aion Vision) they are keeping theirs promise, tho step by step. Who knows that we will see in 2.9, and then in 3.0? Yes probably majority of Aion Vision's "features" will be given in 3.0, but 2.5 is a solid foundation for 3.0 indeed.
So for all these who back then said "they are laying Aion Vision will never come true", I will say "o rly? we will see ;) "

@Zontix Well, nobody will be forced to use "improved graphic mode", it's totally optional. You can turn it, but if you don't want to you can still run "old graphic". Beside, they will add even lower graphic settings than nowadays for all these who has poor computers or problems with sieges.
