Is it weird that I want to try this game now even though it's 7 years old?

@PrimeSynergy It is notorious for being a grind (not being a troll as i do play Aion, but it is 7 years old). With that said it actually is still a very beautiful game. It is also very, very top heavy. You have to change the settings so you can use WASD because it is not set up that way. There are soooo many skills (which i dig but can be confusing). And...besides Warhammer (which sucks) the Orcs so so badass (they look very different, more human-like). There is a trial so go for it. Have fun =) Let us know if you're enjoying it. I stopped because it just wasnt for me really but I didn't hate it.

@The Minn

Thanks for the heads up. I don't mind a grind every now and then. This trial sure is taking forever to download though...

I have FiOS so I can usually rip through any download in no time at all, but this looks like it's going to take days lol.

If I remember the lore of this game correctly... wouldn't this cause a problem as the Dark Elves who worship Shilen would actually have to destroy themselves if they are really into the thingy?

@kgptzac if only all Elves in any MMO could sacrifice themselves...all MMOs would experience an abundance of new gamers if that was the case.

@kgptzac

Dark Elves, according to lore, are practically misguided by a human dark mage, the whole cult of shillen is his way of cashing in.

When Shillen rises, they will have to do a synchronous *gulp* to swallow their pride and go support Eva.

Goddess of destruction will majorly update much of the game.. including the battle system. It was my first MMO and I spent four years with it. I will be going back to check this out. This was the first game to pass the millions of players mark worldwide. Before WoW it was the biggest MMO in the world but it is a beast of it's own.. The issue really is that so many ftp mmos have ripped the game off without that quality inherent in the game... Almost every Korean MMO is in one way or another has paid homage to it. So in a lot of ways it seems same ol same ol... but it's not..

Another thing is.. the journey is meant to be close to endless here.. hitting cap in anything other than years is VERY unlikely. Even playing quite a lot every day. Dungeons are mostly open world.. with a few instances that they've started to put into the game. It's a game that I love.. and I've not regretted a second spent on it.. but time has moved on. Those who can't stomach any sort of grind or are lost without quests... well you won't find many here... it was built in an age when quests weren't the primary way of leveling and honestly? I like it that way.

@Nhoj1983

Before WoW, Lineage 1 was the biggest MMO in the world. Lineage 1 had millions of subs long before Lineage 2.

Hitting cap in 3 months is how things are done these days. They have made the grind very easy. It didn't even take hardcore players 4 years to hit cap back when the grind was difficult. And there are plenty of quests in game nowadays as well.

Please don't provide your clearly dated review of Lineage 2 if you're not up to speed.

@Darkjoy
Take it easy Darkjoy. I wasn't reviewing the game I was just letting the first poster know what the game was like and remenicing. Yes my experience is three years dated. Soon after I left they added a rested xp system.. and yes there were quests.. but not in the way most modern games use them(Mostly lore based at the point I left). If they have since created a way to level exclusively on quests... kudos for NC.. I just can't imagine L2 like that. I know about L1 being the most popular game before L2.. didn't know how popular though.

I will tell you it took me years(from prelude) to get to 74... I know it's not that way now... in fact it was easier to level when I left then when I started... and you couldn't buy vendor A grade armor.. so yeah my stuff is outdated.. but as I understand this update will change A LOT soo.. does it really matter?

Seems like they completely changed their graphical style on the CGI, what I remember they used to be more "realistic" even though featuring somewhat of an anime look. Now they look more cartoony, I don't like it :(

Yeah, I have to agree with Anciegher, I loved the old cinematic style. I enjoyed taking time to watch each cinematic and marvel how pretty they were.

And those monsters remind me of Tremors.
