Yeah I think they have gone way overboard with the rift spawn now you can't take two steps without getting swarmed. and everyone wants their own personal Rift to fight so forget grouping. It’s a lot like when BF 1942 first came out.

That with the immature community (one that Makes the WoW community look like rational pleasant people) and soulless questing makes this game a non-renew for me. Looks like TOR and GW2 are my last hopes of a decent MMO in the next decade.

I do not agree with your statement of forget grouping. Not everyone wants their own personal rift. Every rift that I can recall coming across with other players I can remember grouping up with them. Just a little bit ago I grouped up with another player to tackle some death rifts and it was quite enjoyable. We worked together tracking and taking down the rifts, and exchanged drops even.

The community is not all immature players. Are there some? Yes. Can it feel like that you are surrounded by them? Yes, sometimes. You can feel that in any MMO in my opinion. More than others? That depends on your personal experience.

So far I found the community very good. I fell very much like vanilla WOW where ppl are actually learning by themselfs instead of reading it from a website. Thats just exactly how it should be and what draws me further and further into the game.

There are still alot of improvements needed. But I absolutly love it atm.

You'll get that very same community in every brand new MMO. Rules of the internet.

You won't actually break into the "good" community in any game until things have died down after 6 months or more.

@Dunraven My experience with rift has been very opposite, everytime I happen near a rift or go searching for one I always find allies ready to join up and defeat it. Also, as opposed to the way wow works I keep finding random players that will group with me for hours on end, I never ever saw that in wow. Endgame was the only way to group with same server players.

I took part in few Rifts closing and defending from invations yesterday. It was good fun. Problem I see with it is that like always -- ppl are not really rewarded for grouping up cause that way just one person will be rewarded with big things and others get the small crap. Everyone that takes part in RIft closing should be rewarded with even currency. Thats not the case atm. Its just the top 1-2 that do...

@Deadalon

Besides the fact that the 1.1 update changed how they do rift contribution and now its all about how much you do yourself instead of you versus the rest of the group?

@Armaros

What you yourself can do is based on what others are doing.

WAR had issues with giving rewards based on acutal contribution and players found alot of ways to beat the system there. Trion have desided to remove the contribution list to prevent players to beat the current system - but alot of the dps classes are yet again dominant compared to healers and tanks.

@Deadalon. Other people are irrelevent. If 2 people are fighting a RIft and not grouped, their rewards wouldn't increase or decrease if they were grouped.

Just cancelled my sub a few minutes ago and I have to agree with Dunraven. The community isn't fantastic, but the main reason I left was that for me, the game became very stale very quick. Even at higher levels the gear was so boring and bland (no I don't expect crazy oversized gear with flashy lights) it was like all the armour came from a £/$ store. Rifts become boring pretty fast as there are so many of them.

The only positive thing I can say I liked was when monsters from the rifts would start to invade. Then again, get an invasion when you want to hand in some quests can get pretty annoying when your the only one around to fend them off.

Anyhoo it may get improvements as it still pretty new. Will have to check back in a few months

I've been fighting to decide if I will cancel before tomorrow or not. The questing is pretty bland for me and I have a really tough time staying interested in questing. My wife seems to enjoy it but it is pretty meh for me so far. However, the one thing that is really irking me about this game is the debuff for running from mobs. The dismount followed by the slow is horrendous. I could not stand at all the dazed debuff in WoW and now this game seems to really value that...

@Halldorr

Ye the easy dismount + the placement of crowded roaming mobs that seem just to be placed there to irritate ppl rather than anything else is very annoying. And sadly many of the quests force you to run through those mobs you had already killed to get to the next quest objectives.

I hope Trion will go over their data again and replace alot of their mobs - giving them diffrent routes and less of slow abilites that are so dominan, specially mid lvling curve.

The one thing that really pissed me off was how Pets were always pulling extra adds. I just gave up using them and Trion really need to refocus their effort regarding those.

The maps are big enough to support more enjoyable lvling. Sadly I got the WAR feeling all over again when it cames to MOB placements and it really made me sad... Last thing this game needs is to take things from WAR... since it sucked big time PVE wise.

I have to agree about the mob debuff.
It baffles me why you would make a game that requires running all over a map to accomplish goals then put in a debuff so onerous that it prevents you from doing that very thing. It goes beyond pie in the sky "balance" developers talk about and into the realm of juvenile teenage "what can we do that's most annoying" thought process.
I also agree with Deadalon about the pets, this is another tedious aspect that needs to be looked into.

So putting in a npc debuff that affects and extremely annoys all players and lessens the manpower required to police the game is a good idea.

Got it.

Moonshine Highlands is where I'm at now questing and it's horrendous. Maybe it's more the fact that I fight my way all the way into an area then need to fight my way all the way back out that bothers me.

Regardless, it's a horrible mechanic that "feels" like it's only purpose is to annoy.

Moonshine Highland is probably the worst map ingame. Very dull and boring quests - very unintrested areas that are filled with bad questing (5 altars in a middle of hill with grass? ) comon... even Im not that lazy.

I sent a topic to TRION right after I lvled throught here are kindly pointed out that it had been one of my worst MMO experince in 1 zone for the past 5 years. Sadly.. you still kinda have to do it :S

I'm going to play the rest of the weekend, but it's only been a day and I'm all 'ONOES SKY TENTACLE'd out. :/ There's good/interesting stuff in RIFT, but I'm afraid not enough to offset the usual blandness I gave up on the genre over.

The 1.1 patch was what did it for me.
Dev's who for over 6 months said the souls were fine and that they had no intention of balancing 1v1 then suddenly make 2 callings and all the souls therein irrelevant = cancelled sub.
I've been playing mmo's since 1998 so I know nerfs are a part of the genre.
But I don't need to invest any more time into a game where its treated so haphazardly and whimsical.
The odd thing was that once I made the decision, I didn't miss the game - and I had been HUGE on this game.
That right there told me I'd made the right call.

Most people saying that I cancel my sub due to X,Y already knew that they won't play beyond the first month.This game is as easy as Ray Charles playing the piano and people keep complaining.What's next? Tier 2 dungeons are too hard?

After having taken part in the last few betas in Rift I was really excited about the game and planned to sub for at least 3 months. When the game started I leveled my rogue to 50. But already in the high 30s the quests became very boring with very little exceptions. What I hate especially when you are sent to the same mobs again just to collect some different items when you just came back and handed in the first quest about them.
Yawn - just give me all the quests in the first go so that I don't need to go back and forth to the same mobs like an idiot. I should be a hero - do you think I am not capable enough to remember 5 things.

Then when I reached L50 with my rogue something strange happened - I lost the excitement to log in somehow. I started a second toon (a warrior) and had a lot of fun with it - even more than with my rogue. The warrior had a lot more "Umpf" to it.

Overall though the excitement from the last betas and the first 3 weeks really dropped fast. The rifts and invasions got boring meanwhile. Always the same. A big joke are the invasion bosses - they mainly stand there while they get wacked by the crowd. Ok, once in a while one throws some players in the air or beams himself a few meters away, but that's it mainly. Not really exciting.

Then Trion did the 1.1 patch and destroyed my main two PVE souls (Riftblade + Reaver). Rumor has it because of PVP issues and because the combination was "overpowered". I am not against fixing broken talents but totally changing a soul is utter crap. When they think the combination is overpowered because it can take on > 4 mobs at once, ok, But then why are other classes (mages + clerics) still able to do the same?

With these knee-jerk changes the devs clearly showed to me that their overall view is really lacking. For me this is an indication that more of this will happen in the future and I am not in the mood for that. The fun got absolutely lost and I canceled my subscription now.

The very flexible soul system doesn't hold true when they now constantly nerf fun and creative combinations. They need to copy the separation into PVE and PVP talents from Guild Wars and other games and not nerf PVE because of PVP balancing issues. Big fail.
