It's the dawn of a new era -- and considering all of the bloodshed that goes on in Mortal Online, you may even call this a... Red Dawn? Wolverines? OK, sorry, but we had to get past the obvious puns.
Mortal Online's been on the down-low ever since last year's launch, but that doesn't mean that the Star Vault devs were sipping piña coladas on a gore-soaked beach. On the contrary, as the team's been hard at work on a new expansion that was revealed in its full glory earlier this week: Mortal Online: Dawn.
Instead of focusing on a new continent or a higher level cap, Dawn's adding several quality-of-life features to the game. These include an updated mount system that will eventually let you breed your ideal stud or mare, a cooking profession for the gourmet chefs out there, health reserves, a mail system, and a new player tutorial.
Henrik Nyström was on hand for a forum interview about the expansion and the meaning behind the title: "Dawn feels like it's the 'beginning' of us being able to deliver content without struggling with the core mechanics due to the network solution. We can finally enjoy the development in full and start passing the benefits of that onto the community."

Calling it an expansion sounds more like an exscuse to charge for stuff that probably should have been in the game from the start.

@alucard3000 If you had read the actual source you would have seen it's a free expansion ;)

Very good news indeed. I love realism of MO. It is truly like nothing else on the market, sandbox and themepark. They were in bad need of more content and timing couldnt be better.

Heh, those are stuff that should have been in there from the very start. This is even sadder then DF first "expansion". Read up on some of the reviews, game is quite repetitive and empty atm, not to mention that quite a lot of their realism just becomes annoying after a while.
But hey, maybe now MO will finally stop being in beta!:)

Well not every company starts out knowing how to code/fix everything for an MMO. They seem like a really decent company and put in crazy hours to make this game work. Given some time this game could be an awesome game.

As a current subscriber... Yes the game is finally how it should have been from release. The base game works now and they are adding content. The stuff that sounded so good on paper they are now beginning to add. Hats off to SV for getting their act together.

You are kind of lucky that you never heard about it. It was a huge flop at release. Rampant with bugs/exploits/gm favoritism towards certain guilds/etc.
I have not really heard what kind of shape it is in recently though. May have to give it another go after this "expansion", lol, is released though. It has a good core concept. Just the dev team had NEVER created a game or anything like that before so things were horrid.

Good on Starvault, one of the few companies with the balls to do something different!

MMMmm, Having read the content so far... it might seem hardly worthy to call it am 'expansion' ... but I don't blame them. To MO this IS an expansion.
It's good to see that they are trying to fix what they have rather than adding content...
I've been following the game for awhile since I was interested in it when it was in alpha/beta, hope it goes well for players and devs alike.

Good for them. Its been a tough launch, lets hope they can finally move forward and start to add stuff, instead of just fixing the core game.

Issues or not MO has more soul than the so called popular RIFT as a matter of fact RIFT could learn a lot about Immersion from MO.

@Ratham Mythic, they think only about money. A lot of developers don't know what Warhammer is:
