YES and YES. I do not really play Rift that actively, but I will keep a sub because of cool stuff like this. The world truly is detailed and very beautiful. The content just pushes me through it a little too fast.

So, I am slowing down. I take my time because the little sights and sounds in this game are worth it. Yes, if you speed through it it will not last -- so take your time.

I'll be in this event for SURE!

I will be there too! I just hope they made this good not only for lvl 50s. From the dynamic events so far, I am guessing everyone will be able to enjoy it though. Anyone who tested the event could maybe confirm this?

I am one of those trying not to speed ahead too much also. I explore a lot to collect artifacts and find puzzles, to see new places, read the story of the game all around. Having a blast with Rift so far, and hoping it continues :)

I am also hoping that since the rifts/invasions will be appearing in all zones, that players of all levels will be able to take part, and that this won't simply be high level groups wandering Telara devouring every event rift and invasion they come across. Yet I have to think of the other MMOs I have been in, that have had special events, usually focused events on max level characters as those players are the ones who continuously ask for something to do.

My highest level character is 36, crossing my fingers that those of us who love to explore and hunt artifacts(and play alts) will be able to participate.

Love the game. Looking forward to this.

That said... the voice acting is killing me inside.

@Stuxatte It's not all that hot in places, but WoW has had some pretty terrible voice acting over the years, some that they even (eventually) replaced.

I'm looking forward to these events, a fun way to grab some levels on my various toons scattered throughout the level range.

I'll be there. That video gave me goosebumps!

In any case, it's a *world* event, so yes, people of all levels can participate in it. The raid that follows the event I'm guessing will PROBABLY be for level 50s, but I haven't seen confirmation of this. I expect it to be similar to the zone events, except that it will be continuous with long-range goals (after all, it's supposed to last a week), and not 30 minutes or so like zone events do).

I know everyone in my guild is excited by the event, and we'll be grouping together a lot for it.

My biggest problem is that Trion advertised an ideology about their game and its management going into it. Then after going live, they have done a complete 180. I love customizing characters and builds. I love theorycrafting and character concepts. The openness and supposed synergy between the various souls was the biggest selling point for me. This is what they advertised. Yet within 1 month they have managed to completely reverse that design philosophy. I'm not going to play another game where PVP is destroying the rest of the game. I was leary back in beta when they changed all the racials and I should have known that they were just blowing smoke with what they were telling everyone. I bought the game anyway. That was a mistake. They have proven it.

To me, this 1.1 update is what killed the game for me. Content or no, they neutered the draw of an aspect of the game that I enjoyed the most.

Ummm.... how have they done a 180? I don't see any evidence of that.

What I do see is Trion admitting they made some mistakes with the game balance, and they are trying to fix them. Such things are an impossible battle, and they always take time.

Are you actually quitting without having tried the game with the changes??? People say this in EVERY game I've ever played (it's ragequit rant #3 on the hit parade, and I've seen it hundreds of times over the years). You sir, are entirely too emotional about this, and you need to chill and actually hold your opinion until things go live to see if you can acclimate yourself to the so-called '180'.

Real change is scary. Change in MMOs, especially changes as small as these are not. Take a nap. Please. Or quit. But don't throw a tantrum. At least not in public.

@oxlar Agree completely.
This game was thoroughly tested before release - it was so polished it gleamed.
NOW all of a sudden 2 callings are supposedly broken and need to be nerfed - and HARD.
Complete bs - they said the game was to be balanced on a group level - not a 1v1 level - and yet here we are just under a month after release and they're bringing out massive nerfs.
Trion has lost my respect and my $$.

Although I disagree with Oxlars sensationalism, I too wish an MMO game company would decide to keep its game either PvE or PvP (not both)vand balance the game accordingly. If a game doesnt have to keep adjusting classes based on the other, it might actually get some consistency (including consistent subscribers!)

@Haldurson

They did a 180 because they said they wouldn't do exactly what they are currently doing which is caving to the cries of people screaming for nerfs over fotm builds.

FYI, I played and tested these changes on the alpha server with a 50 in each calling during their world wide events. Its not hard to do. Just download the alpha client or use the old beta one and log in. There are NPCs who can give you max level and t2 gear during their events.

I don't see how this is sensationalism or some emo response. Its simple observation and testing.

I would much rather have them fix something that is out of balance than let it slide and just turn a blind eye leaving it be. I don't know what all they are nerfing for rogues but for warriors, I do know they are adding a cooldown on flame spear in the Riftblade tree. It's not that they are caving to the QQ's of all the forum trolls and posters but there is legitimate reasoning behind it. People who PvP (and consequently PvE) as Riftblade were getting to the point that they were only using Flame Spear since it had no cooldown, was instant and can hit multiple targets at range (when you use Fork). That is something that is over powered. Now what they originally said I believe is that yes there will be specs that are going to be more powerful than others and they are ok with that, this is different though. This change isn't simply a case of one spec being more powerful than another option, it's that one ability is so powerful that it is being used almost exclusively thus negating any reason to use the other spells and abilities they designed.

I know that when I pvp'd on my warrior as Riftblade I almost exclusively used Flame Spear for the reason I mentioned above. While it's fun to be able to spam that, it does mean I don't use many other abilities with the exception of my attack point dumps, snares and knockbacks. It makes a melee class more effective at range and that is broken. Beta is all well and good but once you get real world data and feedback when so many more people are playing the game some times changes need to be made. If Paragons were using their ranged abilities exclusively don't you think they would want to change that as well? I think in Trion's mind, ranged abilities for warriors are there in the event you get snared or slowed and can't reach a target for a little bit so you have something to do till you can get into melee range where your bread and butter abilities should be, not the other way around.

@Joshinu

You do understand that the big damage of the riftblade wasn't comming from flamespear right? To be honest, it doesn't scale well as you level and is mediocre damage at best. Flame spear was being used to build attack points at range. It was the other combos that was doing the damage.

And your saying that warriors shouldn't do range. Well by that logic, clerics shouldn't tank, mages shouldn't heal, and rogues shouldn't tank. Hmmmm, that seems to be just the opposite of what their design philosophy was.

This patch wasn't just about rift blades. They hacked up the reaver tree making most people have to spend at least 4 more points in that tree to get the same abilities they had before, yet those abilities were nerfed through the floor. Paladin's shield block heal was dropped from 160% weapon damage down to 25-75% depending on talents taken. The reaver's self healing was equally hit. Peopled cried about them being able to solo a group of trash mobs. BFD! Many other callings can do the same thing. Bards and chloros had the amount of people they healed capped at 5. Whats the point of bards now? Their healing sucked for small groups and that was the main draw for raids was their small heals spread over a large area. Why have a bard when you can have a cleric in a raid? And don't say buffs, the buffs are pathetic and get overwritten by others.

They so fundamentally changed the feel of some of the classes that they had to give complete refunds on soul points spent and reset them. And even the things that may have had some legitimacy were fixed in a way that was completely retarded. If the reaver's dots were too powerful because of the tier 1 Riftblade talent, don't nerf the reaver into oblivion. Change the tier 1 riftblade talent so death damage is not included in its bonus. I don't agree with destroying synergy, but its better than castrating an entire soul.

But the amount of piss poor sweeping changes they made was massive and kneejerk. A lot of people have canceled. I'm one of them.

What is wrong with you people? My main is a bard/ranger. But seriously, WTF does my main character build have to do with solid points about the current state of the game? What, you can't compose a solid rebuttal so all you can do is attack the poster?

Warriors are absurd in PvP right now, and anyone who feels otherwise is either delusional or someone who enjoys being OP and steamrolling non-FTOMers.

Bards are far from useless in a 5-man group as well. It surprises me how many people fail to realize that cleric AoE heals are, in general, extremely expensive mana-wise. Bards will still fill an important support role in the game for that reason, unless Trion decides to make mana regen ridiculous for clerics at any point (and it doesn't seem like they will anytime soon).

And as far as resetting talent tree points? Big deal. WoW's done it several times over for every class. I don't see it losing subscribers over it. Hell, Ghostcrawler is practically playing class balance yo-yo with Cataclysm and there are more WoW subs than ever.

People crying and saying they're quitting over class balance changes is nothing new. Most don't actually quit.
