The MMO console line-up just got a bit bigger thanks to the folks at Nexon and Softmax. The latter is porting the former's Dungeon Fighter Online beat-'em-up to the Xbox Live Arcade delivery platform, where the title will boast a freemium business model (meaning you download the client for free and pay for items and upgrades).
Nexon and Microsoft are splitting localization duties as the game will be released in eight languages worldwide. The console title -- Nexon's first -- will be exclusive to the 360. DFO features six character classes (with subclasses available at level 18) and further advancement possible at level 48 via an awakening quest.

Always liked the look of the game but never really liked playing it on PC. Will be checking it out on my 360 for sure when it comes out!

PSU was multiplatform .... err .... NON-MICROSOFT EXCLUSIVE multiplatform.
DFO is windows only at this point so MS will deal with them, simply picking XBLA as the only console you release for isn't good enough. as attested by the shit pot of games out there that M$ wont touch because they have mac or Linux releases.
on top of which I think M$ is real interested in another brawler game from Nexon that plays more like a console game than a PC game .... hummm, I wonder which one that could be?

Microsoft doesn't work well in general with any MMO developer, just how they are. FF 11 was about the only exception, and with due reason at that. Every other MMO has been shot down by Microsoft right in mid-development, and I shouldn't have to go on to list it all.
Why? Because it means having to lessen its grip on the reins, they want to control as much of it as they can possibly get their grubby mitts on. DFO certainly won't be free on there, and I'm expecting Microsoft to be pushing for at least $10 to "download" the client, as well as keeping up a Gold account, not to mention its own dlc to the game.
And you know what would make good DLC? New fighters added in, and possibly even the "ascended" classes if they can. Not to mention every major expansion that might hit DFO.

@DevilSei - Microsoft is actually the publisher for Undead Labs' Class4 Zombie MMO.
And I'm not really sure it's fair to say Microsoft doesn't work well with MMO developers. The MMOs announced and canceled were announced and canceled by PC developers who thought they could port the game over to the Xbox 360.
It turns out it's extremely expensive, time consuming, and labor intensive to port PC MMOs to consoles. MMOs that weren't developed with consoles in mind haven't made it to consoles (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, etc.).
So it may be unfair to blame Microsoft for PC developers' overly ambitious announcements that they never even attempt to follow up on.

That's... really sweet. To me DFO on the computer with a keyboard and such just feels plain wonky, but with a controller? That'd be much smoother.

I don't think it's a matter of MS not working with people. Virtually EVERY potential 360 mmo had serious issues before launching, and that's why we lost ports. Age of Conan floundered at launch, same with CO, Huxley totally changed, and Turbine has its hands full with F2P conversions.
Both FFXI and PSU were developed by experienced console devs as a main project and not a pure port, and worked fine. Nexon is also an experienced dev, and they are flush with enough cash to break into a new market.

My question is, will they be able to play with PC players, and/or will they be held down with the same "stamina" system that the rest of us are? Will they change the game up to better suit their new audience? Not like I care too much though, I quit DFO after losing one too many parties to people running out of stamina. Feh.

@ShivanSwordsman Probably not, PSU had separate servers, and usually 360 games don't cross over. FFXI was the only exception, but microsoft broke a lot of rules for it, like needing a Gold account to play it. (It required only silver, due to being the only game with sub fees when it launched)

Holy sh**! The one thing I don't like about DDO is trying to play it on a PC with a gamepad. XBOX will be perfect. I hope I get to keep my character.
With the track record of MMO's on 360 I guess I shouldn't get my hopes too high yet, though.

what i was talking about was the cash shop. sega wanted to do it on the 360, but there was a problem with ms points and sega and ms couldnt come up with a way to work it.
now PSU gets few updates as sega tries to figure out how to get the content out for free.
the only way DFO makes money is through a cash shop, so im interested in how MS will handle this
im betting that the PC servers and 360 servers will be seprate, so you cant use your MS points for nexon cash, and cant use nexon cash for ms points

its too early to tell but MS does have a bad rep w mmos
Mythica was a Microsoft MMO that was canceled
and the Marvel MMO was canceled with the same excuse that microsoft could not be competitive (stated by microsoft)
MS abandoned their own mmo, Mythica -- before WOW launched

MS sold Asherons Call back to Turbine -- also PreWOW
MS abandoned Vanguard
