Plenty of game developers have a newsletter, and while Funcom is joining that crowd, the company is stepping it up with separate newsletters tailored to its various player groups.
The newsletter for The Secret World comes in several varieties: a generic one for anyone not already aligned with a secret society, and others "specifically branded for your secret society."
What will they contain? Funcom promises a focus on the newest screenshots, art, and videos as well as news and interviews. The first generic newsletter is on the site now, but future issues will include the branded versions as well. Not already a member of a secret society? The Secret World's initiation test is still available for players who wish to align themselves and receive the newsletters.

Does anyone know if the website revamp means we have to take the initiation test again?

@paterah No you don't and if you were an early test taker there is a really strong chnace you will see a beta invite in the next few weeks.
I have been following the game since inception, and I have to say this is a labor of love for Funcom, so much more so than AoC was. I also think FC has learned a great deal about Community management, in talking with the reps at Pax east TSW will have much better in game and forum moderation than it's counterpart.

I sincerely hope so. I am a launch day AoC player and still currently playing. If i didn't know any better, I would swear FC is intentionally trying to sink AoC.
The updates, patches and subsequent feedback has been going downhill for a long time. It was much worse at the beginning, but there has not been any ardent strides to fix/balance the game. It has been a series of workarounds and patches that lead to more issues.
I hope the TSW devs and community managers do an even 50% better job than what has been given on the AoC side.
And this is coming from an avid AoC fanboy. :(

They evidently need an editor who knows the difference between affect and effect. It's hard to take games seriously when the grammar and/or spelling is bad.

@Poppaeia Is that your only complaint? Do you know how many spelling and grammatical errors I catch in Blizzard games and even their book fiction? It’s an issue of the entertainment industry period…not just Funcom

Have there been many newsletters? I did the test a year ago and have only received one since, which was only a few days ago.

Nvm. Reading incomprehension ftw.

Interesting concept, but after the twin failures of Anarchy Onlines Launch and Age of Conan gameplay, it's pretty hard to trust Funcom a third time.
Pretty sure I won't be the only one either.
