@blix2006
I live in the US and have played this, just download and install the EU version. Works fine.

However its not worth playing this poorly designed game.
Camera is locked a third person over the shoulder position, so your ship takes up almost 1/4th of the screen, Missions are buggy and glitch out halfway through more often than not.

the list of "Meh" points in this game is long, coupled with glitches and bugs, it killed any interest i had in the official release.

@Skyydragonn, not sure what version you played but the current version has 3 different camera angles which can be changed by pressing V as the help screen tells you to, the help screens are really informative with pretty pictures and stuff, i found it a breeze to play and hit 90% of the time so i dunno what video @Dumac was watching.

hope you give it another go, if so i'll see you in game

@Skyydragonn You might have played early- or mid closed beta.
Closed beta is a testing phase with lots of bugs and glitches and is made for improvement. I doubt they would release it officially if its as bad as you say.

I was in the game throughout almost the entire beta process. At no point were you ever locked behind your ship. Did you bother to look at the options or keybinds? I haven't had trouble completing a mission in a long time, though I will admit I haven't tested in about a month.

freemium with item shop.. supposedly you CAN acquire all of the paid items in game but we all know doing so will be an extreme chore.

So why is anyone still remotely interested in this? I guess JGE is pretty much vaporware so if you want this sort of space combat you dont really have any other choice... Nonetheless I wish people would stop supporting the whole freemium/mt thing.

And personally I wish people would stop using P2P payment system because I prefer the freemium style.

Guess this means war and THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!

Shame if it is ip blocked so that I can't play it here, especially since JGE doesn't seem likely to ever see the light of day.

I was able to create an account using proxy.org, selecting a European proxy, and then going to the website to do a sign up. I haven't had any issue with the client once I created that account. I haven't had a chance to try the live version yet though, but I suspect it will be the same since the accounts aren't changing.

What do you do in the game? I watched one of massivelys livestreams and it was just flying around in random directions, shooting at stuff and missing 90% of the time ... Though thats just half an hour of footage i saw. Is there more to it?

be careful if your not from Europe, when they say EU only they mean it! I didn't catch on that it's was region locked until after the fact and ended up with 6 gigs of "access denied".

supposedly there is going to be NA servers set up eventually, but gamigo is notorious for not giving a shit about US players.

for the record it's not really a "sim", that may have been a little misleading, it's a "space combat action game" ... calling them sims is a holdover from when all vehicle combat games were called "combat simulators".

BP is more like Wing commander or freespace than it is like EVE, resource gathering takes the back seat to dogfighting. also: it's all fighter based so your not going to have big capitol ship battles either.

5 minutes starting at google will get you all the information you need, small 1 meg program or whatever installed and running on your system and even a cheap plane ticket to spain.
a while ago i wanted to watch the crow stairway to heaven and then it was only available on hulu, which is US only. it took me literally 2 minutes. top 5 links on generic google search :P

and i get your point, but saying they don't give a shit about US players is a bit of an exaggeration. it's just a thing, doesn't mean anything, and surely it doesn't mean that it won't be normally available to the US in the not so long future. no reason to think they don't care, it's just that their resources might be stretched right now.

i am able to create an account, register and DL and install the client ...however it tells me i have to wait for an email to actually allow me to enter and play the game cause it is "still in testing"? Is this a release or a beta or what? I'm confused ..did i do something wrong or what?

actually i just read a post on the BP forums that NA servers should be launching in the next 48 hours (this was posted yesterday), so maybe that's the issue? Guess i'll just wait and see ..i love me some freelancer, so this game looks right up my alley.
