Earlier we told you about Hi-Rez Studios and its efforts to help victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami. NCsoft is also throwing a considerable contribution into the relief drive in the form of 500 million Yen (or 4.5 million Euros/6.3 million USD, for those of you counting along at home).
NCsoft's Sung Joon Park explained that the sum equals a month's worth of sales, adding that the South Korean gaming giant would not be shutting off game services. "We'll maintain the service with minimal electricity and personnel. Maintaining daily life is also important, therefore we plan to uphold the service."
Kotaku puts NCsoft's gift into perspective, noting that the South Korean MMO maker is a big deal in Asia, where its contributions to the Japanese recovery outstrip notables including Nintendo, Sony, and Hyundai.

It's nice to see companies rallying together to help victims of the disaster. We can be so cynical about these MMO's sometimes. But when it comes to things that really matter, these companies are showing us they can pull through.

Great to see these actions being taken place, hey who knows maybe every MMO company should try and outdo each other?
Tis' all for a good cause~!

A month of sales is a extremely huge contribution. Even those who love to rage against NCSoft gotta give them due respect for this.

I really dislike NCSoft's games, but you can't deny this is very good of them. I'm sure the donation will not go to waste. Hopefully we see more companies doing things such as this.

Agreed, I dont particularly enjoy any of thier games but tat is a huge contribution, even if its a drop in the proverbial bucket for thier bottom line

6.3 Million USD is no drop in the bucked for ANY corporation. Especially one that's not as huge as you would think. They have some big titles but keep in mind that one of their biggest (Guild Wars) doesn't have a monthly fee.

Give me a month of your income at the drop of a hat. Then I'll listen to you.

Its Square-Enix, everyone hates them too much to give them kudos for thier donation?
kidding aside I'm sure its been reported somewhere. browsing other sites like game informer and 1up.com shows other companies doing similar events to raise relief funds.
Could be just a simple case of thiers too many to post about today?

Square-Enix roughly donated 100m yen or $1.24m, which is equal to Konami's donation the same day. At least it is better then the more laughable donations by a few other rich people/organizations and Charlie Sheen's $1 donated for each $500+ ticket for his upcoming show (when the actor was making $2m/ep.).
In the end, it's still going to help someone.

Very nice to see the money they take from subscribers go to a great cause as Japan needs money right now, NCsoft hasnt got a great track record and this should help put them in that good light.
