I applaud them for this. If I didn't already own the game I would buy it. But I have already donated to the red cross, I hope you guys have too...

Kudos to them. I'd buy the game if I didn't already have it.

I appreciate this effort by Hi-Rez but I already own the game, so I'll just go straight to the Red Cross and make a donation. I've been meaning to anyways. :D

Very cool idea. It's a great deal and for a good cause. I'm thinking about getting some copies for friends at this price.

Use coupons at their official storepage to get it for $5.

Bought! Also picked up the 10-day booster just to give something back to Hi-Rez for the generosity.

mmm... shameful. And look at all the people who were born last night eating this up.

I can't believe you people all falling for this 'humanitarian effort', when it's just a capitalist marketing ploy.

It's obvious GA has seen a serious drop in subs since launch. This is nothing more than a way to get people in to play to generate business. The bigger picture is they get 'positive press' for the "donation", which in all likelikhood based on how the game was doing so far.. will be less than $1,000.

I'd be more impressed if they just said as a company "we will donate $25/50/100, 000 to the Japanese Relief Fund to help victims." Period. Don't have to tie it into the game for Pete's Sake.

But I guess you gotta sell a title somehow in this market, no matter how cheesy. Kudos to the guy who thought this up. It's already fooled quite a few people reading these responses when they could have just taken their sub money and donated it directly.

@real65rcncom

At the end of the day those effected by the devastation don't care where the aid comes from, simply that it comes.

Don't get me wrong I sorta see this as being more capitalistic than purely benevolent. In this instance Its the end result that matters.

If they are able to get people who might not have donated anything to donate by dangling a carrot in front of them, why should they be discouraged?

I do think that considering all the good press and subscriptions this will probably net them and after they make the donation, they should probably buy everyone in their PR department new cars.

lol I just bought it this morning myself from thier store for $10. money well spent I'de tried it out before building my new rig and found it fun, even if my old PC choked while playing it. should be sweet with new rig, and well I had to do some sort of donation towards the relief effort, might as well get a good deal in the process! :)

always has to be one that pisses in the cornflakes. Why shouldn't we take advantage of the offer and get soemthing extra for donating our money instead of giving to the red cross to pad some fatcats wallet while almost none of the donation makes it where its needed??

Thanks to this post on Massively I checked out the game for an easy ten bucks and I'm surprised I let this one pass by. It is immediately more fun than other MMO's that have tried the "action" angle such as Tabula Rasa or Fallen Earth. Granted I'm only an hour or so into the game but it's rare to find this kind of fun factor right away in a game like this. Looking forward to playing more.

Apparently there was a huge demand to donate just $5 instead of 10. All the coupons already got used so here are some more.
