TERA's media blitz has been focused on BAMs and smart AI of late, so it's only natural that Massively's latest exclusive from the world of Arborea has a certain monster-centric bent. En Masse Entertainment has given us the details on two of the mobs you're likely to encounter during your travels, as well as a couple of new screenshots that show off just how big these BAMs really are.
First up is the kumas, and as you can see in the header image above, he's more than happy to be crossing paths with an adventurer (i.e., a potential meal). "Kumases exist to consume, it is their only function -- their place in the world, as it were. Forever striving to sate the Hunger, their bodies slow down into near-hibernation when there is nothing nearby to eat," En Masse tells us. Kumas territory is typically bare of plant and animal life, and the beast's keen sense of smell alerts it to the presence of nearby prey and brings its body back to a waking state.
Nagas are a bit more proactive and are prone to hunting in areas occupied by kumas. As a result, the naga has learned to control its scent secretions, the better to avoid conflicts with its deadly rival. "Nagas are a violent bunch," according to En Masse. "Their primary concern is hunting for the sake of fighting. Food is occasionally useful too." Jump the cut for the full descriptions.
Kumas
Kumases exist to consume. It is their only function -- their place in the world, as it were. Forever striving to sate the Hunger, their bodies slow down into near-hibernation when there is nothing nearby to eat. Kumas territory is typically marked by being barren of plant or animal life, as the first thing a kumas does upon migrating to an area is strip it of all nearby life. Its keen sense of smell lets it know when food is nearby, which brings its body back to full consciousness.
Naga
Nagas prefer to hunt in barren territory so that they can more easily spot their prey. As such, they often occupy the same area that a kumas might. To defend against the kumas's keen sense of smell, the nagas have learned to control their scent secretions, so that it is difficult for any creature to detect them by smell. They hunt most often by smashing, and even those with weapons are inelegant at best. A violent bunch, their primary concern is hunting for the sake of fighting. Food is occasionally useful, too.

@Ratham
Try a little harder next time and you might actually convince someone who have a clue what you're talking about.

Yup, another asian grinder that was "westernized". No thank you.

@Rindon Considering that even on the Korean servers there have been people making max level in about 10-14days then I'd say that isn't much of a grind even for Koreans. They have stated this before it's not going to be all hardcore on everything. They are finding a medium for players to enjoy the game. Right now the only thing I have seen knocked on a ton is the crafting system has it has RNG and doesn't provide all that great of stuff.

It must be strange being a person that automatically disregards a game without playing it, experiencing it, or even before the game it out (yes I know it is already out in Korea).
Considering how much is being changed for westernization, people should really try to control their useless autohate garbage.

Pretty game, but it's really a shame it's aimed towards the 'one hand on the keyboard, the other hand down the pants' crowd. Those armors are an affront to man and beast, let alone the creepy pedobait race.
If I'm buying anything from Korea it's going to be Blade & Soul.

@Nenene Yes yes we hear this every time in your posts when it regards TERA. So just do us a favor and not post here with your stupid nonsense. If you think NCsoft will do something right for once well I wish you luck.

@Nenene I'm not gonna knock Blade & Soul because I think it looks pretty awesome too, but you can't be serious in thinking B&S is any different from TERA in its target audience. The boobtastic character designs and revealing costumes in B&S are just as over the top as TERA, and they also both have a "pedobait" race, as you call it.
So dislike TERA if you wish (certainly, it is your choice), but don't try to pretend that B&S is any better in the categories you mentioned.

I mean... you've seen the trailers right? It's as exposing as Tera... Like Riot says don't diss on something while supplying your own preference which... has the same negatives you state.
Personally I hate these armors, but meh, it reaches its 'target' audience.

The monster in the top image really really REALLY reminds me of Bayonetta. Which is cool because that game has amazing artwork.
