@Sookull

The game HAS huge security issues. This has been stated over and over again and if ppl dont want to be hacked they should wait till Trion get things in order.

Fanboys saying that everything is fine doesn't make it fine. There are issues with security at this stage so be carefull.

@Deadalon Examples please?

They have responded to any security and scams faster than any other MMO company I have ever seen, and that includes Blizzard, Turbine, and Sony.

lol -why do you fanboys get so buthurt everyone dares to open their mouth about issues that ARE (whoohoo pissed off 1 fanboy) ingame and everyone should be aware of them before they buy the game.

Examples of ppl beeing hacked ? lol - What abou the post below ? What about RIft forums ? What about you actuall READ (whohooo did it again) the interview here above and you see that TRION HAS been struggling with numbers of hacked account.

None of you fanboys can guaranty ppl wont get hacked - I can not guaranty they will be hacked. But again IF you actually READ the interview then TRION is WORKING on improving their security. Until then ppl (whoo Im on a hotstreak) should wait if they care about their internet security.

I will say one thing that you all know about MMO's.
Game with out support is a dead game.I am playing RIFT since the BETA.I got my account hacked a week ago and untill now i have NOT receive any help from the support team in game and outside. RIFT maybe a good game ,better than AION but definetely not going to be top of the charts like WoW for so long.And with out support it only gets worse.

@(Unverified) I don't understand how these people get "hacked". I have been playing since during the beta events and I have no issues. Are people running third party combat log parsers or something?

My ONLY complaint about the game is how it looks at the very lowest of settings but this is my fault as I need to upgrade my aged machine.

As it stands now, I don't like the game. I am an altoholic who also likes to explore, and this game really didn't give me the kind of replayability I was hoping for.

Perhaps the end game is where the real fun starts in Rift. I am still watching this title though, cause I think it can only get better as it goes on.

Well, I'm going on 2 days with no access to my deleted characters after I was hacked. And if you visit the official forums and go to the General section there are a ton of people that were hacked. Not only was I hacked, they also deleted all of my characters - I submitted a ticket online as well as via their phone support; I don't have any updates, no ETA, nothing.

Trion was completely blindsided by the security issues going on. I read, and you can take this with a grain of salt, that the game has two executables and the hackers don't even need your password to get in.

I do not visit sites that are not verified.
I have never been hacked in wow in 6 years.
No one but me knows my passwords.
Hell, I don't even open emails from family if there's an attachment.
I'm not some teenager surfing porn sites.

I was hacked and all my gold was taken in Rift, none of my gear was, just the gold. There is something really fishy about how it happened.
As Triskelion says it's like they got in without a PW.
Any and all things related to Trion/Rift have been removed from my computer, I will be reformatting and re-installing later in the week.

Once again, avoid this game they have serious security issues at this time.

The hacking is going to be a part of the online MMO experience from here on out.

The undeniable success of Rift's launch makes it a target for the hacking community for the same reason WoW is targeted. Money follows volume. Large markets attract hackers like chum attracts sharks.

The larger the player base the more frequent hacking events will appear on official forums.

Implicating Trion is silly at this point: sure it's possible they have an internal security risk, but what's probable is that it's 1/100 of 1% of the total subscribers have been affected: which translates into hundreds of forums threads giving the issue an abnormally large community footprint.

That said, I think linking the email to an account name was daft and I'm am very excited about the coin locking feature.

Good interview - not too much PR spiel, no evasion, just good solid informative answers that sounded open/honest.

I'm very happy with RIFT and very happy with how Trion have been updating it so far and squashing bugs. They're doing all the right things and making all the right noises, and long may it continue.

Now if Trion can push out as much update/expansion content as SOE managed with EverQuest 2 in the first year I'll be even more impressed - and I suspect they can - Trion seem to update very frequently, react quickly, and are not slow to bring in much-needed changes and communicating effectively with their playerbase.

Tbh you can tell Trion/RIFT has an industry vet like Hartsman at the helm, who has experienced most of the major mistakes that MMO dev teams usually make at launch, and is steering RIFT through and around most of the problems that hamper other new MMOs. MMORPGs are complex things and no Dev team has ever managed a flawless launch, but Trion has come pretty darn close.
