@TwistedComplex

If anything is in any way related to Star Wars, it'll have lines out the ass regardless of what it is. In no way does it automatically mean it was the best game there.

I thought GW2 stole the show as a matter of opinion, based on what is now my most anticipated title, not because of how long the lines were compared to other games...

@Macabre 13 And that's fine.

It's just the people waiting in line for 7 hours think you're wrong.

Since when does waiting to demo a game inherently mean that those waiting think it's the best game ever?

In case you didn't read my last post here, I was one of those people who waited to play it...

Are you going to assume I was the *only* one of the thousands upon thousands that tried it and wasn't terribly thrilled?

No... the lines don't prove they all disagree with me, they just prove that it's a game a lot of people wanted to try out, just like me... nothing more, nothing less.

Besides, I never said it was a bad game, I just said it was WoW-in-space, and that's derogatory only if you think WoW is a bad game.

I, and millions of other people, think WoW is a great game. Bioware themselves have basically stated they want to use WoW as the gold-standard for their game. If that's what you want out of ToR, you won't be disappointed, it just simply isn't for me, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way.

My bad for daring to mention another game in a ToR thread... oh, the nerve!

You have to understand there are a bunch of obnoxious GW2 fanboys that post in the TOR forums, and frankly it gets annoying. I'm not interested in GW2 but I don't go to their forums and cause trouble. I bet if TOR fanboys post about how TOR is so much better in GW2 articles, you'd see a lot of the same responses to people mentioning TOR.

People waited for days to watch the prequels, and they still sucked. Your argument is null.

@socialenemy2007 Those shitty prequels gave birth to the excellent Clone Wars series though (both of them) so I consider it an even trade.

Ah well, more time in the cooker is a good idea. Polish that baby and have an awesome launch like Rift. In the meantime, this will give me ample time to sample all that Rift has to offer without feeling like I have to leave it for SWTOR.

@Puremallace lol, Tera.

Oh boy another Asia-developed MMO with mechanics from the mid 90s, no innovation to speak of, and seeks to punish me at every turn.

Truly, a WoW-Killer in the works.

This is a good thing, fellow SWTOR-lovers.
It gives us enough time to fully-explore the amazing levelling experience of RIFT, instead of tearing us between the two. By the time SWTOR comes out, we'll have been happily satisfied with our delicious RIFT-appetizers and have made enough room in the belleh to be ready to move on to a hearty meal of SWTOR.

Enjoy your MMO experience like a long, multiple-course night out at a restaurant, not an all-you-can-eat buffet that closes in 1hr.

Dont bother bringing up TERA as the "next big thing" its another asian grindfest like Aion that will fail miserably in the US and Europe like Aion did, not to mention its just a hack and slash with over sized weapons.

If TOR launches after GW2(assuming it delivers as it seems) they'll be losing out on a decent amount of profit.

inb4:
taking my comment too far
fantasy vs sci-fi
star wars ip power and fans
b2p vs p2p
strawman
acting like I said it would fail or not make a profit (which I didn't)
etc

@Alph You're wrong.

Since GW2 doesn't have a sub fee I and pretty much everyone else who isn't a slavering fanmoron will probably end up getting both (assuming they're interested in either/both titles to begin with). I'll predominantly play TOR since I want to get the value for my money (and because...hello...it's freakin' TOR) but occasionally still fire up GW2. It's free at that point after all.

I appreciate your comment but it's wrong. Had you paid attention to what I said in my post you'd have realized that; you obviously missed my point.

If you're having further trouble understanding what I was saying, apply it to this extreme example.

Knowing how successful WoW was/is, imagine if TOR launched:
before WoW
after WoW
Can you not see the outcome being different in both situations? If not then you're being a "slavering fanmoron" yourself. Actually LotRO is a great real example of this. In a world absent of WoW, LotRO would be far more successful.

Now this is contingent on two big ifs. First and foremost, GW2 has to actually sate the hype it's creating. Second, TOR has to launch(not only after GW2 but) at least a month or two after GW2.(to allow the solidification of it's base and the spread of my first if point) If both these things happen, TOR will not acquire the same amount of profit it would if it released before GW2. It would turn into the WoW LotRO example actually, just not as extreme.(hopefully)

If you think that makes me a "slavering fanmoron " then a big old LOL @ hypocrisy.

P.S. I'm a TOR fan too and want it to succeed. Why drive 5-10mins and buy some milk for $4 when you live on a farm.

Now for a little fun part.

Let's take a look at why I shouldn't have even bothered replying because of the things you did:

taking my comment too far -----check
fantasy vs sci-fi
star wars ip power and fans ---check
b2p vs p2p --------------------------check
strawman ---------------------------check
acting like I said it would fail or not make a profit (which I didn't) ---i'll give you the benefit of the doubt on this one and say no

You managed 4 of 6, not bad.

@Alph I posted a paragraph. You posted an essay (and not a particularly good one at that). If we both operate under the presumption that time is precious because it's limited (ie, you're going to be dead one day) then I've already won quite handily.

Feel free to post another essay in response though. You're only killing yourself after all.

I look at WoW, which had awesome graphics at launch but which now even the most die-hard fan would admit need an update. Now I look at TOR and I wonder if, by the time they do launch, their graphics won't *already* be needing an update? It's like, we had five years of *play time* for WoW's graphics to stale, while TOR's are going mouldy before we've even had actual play time with them. :D

@Revrant You obviously haven't looked into TERA much if you just write it off as another asian mmo. That's fine with me, one less person that will just be a hater not interested in a game that I like so hopefully won't barge in and bring it down.
