Nope. If I ever find I really need X gold in a game in order to have fun but there is no way to gain that much without tedious grind, I will simply quit the game. Hasn't happened so far.

Yes I bought gold. Not long after starting WoW. I used it for some gear and to level proffesions.

In the end I was selling gold. The game had gone past the point I enjoyed it and so decided to find a new way to enjoy it.

No, but not because I'm too proud, but just paranoid about getting caught, or later getting incessantly spammed by RMT's.

Frankly, I hate grinding for imaginary money. When I bought PLEX and sold for ISK in EvE to get past a hump, it was the best decision I ever made in the game, and made it much more fun.

Yes, way way back when in early EQ (~2002 IIRC) i bought some PP.

Back then though things where different. It wasnt chinese gold farmers and account hijackers it was actual players and even a couple guilds selling it so i really dont feel bad.

These days with nearly all of the RMT being shady businesses that spam and hijack accounts i simply cant support it. If it was like the old days i would have no issues buying some currency.

Never bought gold but towards the end on WRATH I was gold capped on 2 toons and would sell to my friends in town for cash or favors. Had around 300k between the 2 accounts going for $1/ 100 gold was a pretty comfortable summer (if I remember correctly paid for my 2 wow accounts for 3 months as well as an incredible shopping spree on steam during one of their OMG everything's on sale weeks).

I've bought and sold a couple of plex in Eve at a time when I was trying very hard to get into that game, but didn't have the free time for mission grinding, or the tedium tollerance for mining. I wanted to pvp, and a lack of a steady income was getting in the way of that. I don't regret it, It was a good descision and well worth the money.

When your free time is more valuble than your disposable income, thats when people buy gold/isk/whatever. I don't blame them, in Eve in particular, though I can't imagine why anyone would go through unofficial channels on Eve when there is an official option available. Other games its a lot shadier, but can still be worth it.

Back in vanilla wow days I knew someone who bought gold for the same reason, he had more disposable income than he had free time and the lack of in-game income was getting the way of him enjoying the game. I can understand both side of this argument, but i really don't think there is anything WRONG with RMT if it allows the user to enjoy a game they otherwise would not be able to.

Ayup, I've trade PLEX in both directions in EVE. Generally, though, I tend to "sell" my ISK by purchasing a PLEX to extend my time. When I was unemployed, it was the only way I could justify continuing to play.

No, and I hate the entire RMT industry with the kind of burning passion usually reserved for tyrannical dictatorships. Maybe I'd feel differently about it if my formative MMO experience hadn't been FFXI, because the clash of RMT and poor design choices in that game (clearly the best way to combat RMT is to make gil nearly -impossible- to get, rather than easier to get. Yeah, that'll clear the market for it right up!) was the last straw that eventually made me quit. Then again, probably not; one of my favorite things to do in an MMO is amass wealth, and buying currency is cheating. Everyone has their own justification for doing it, but seriously, it's cheating, and I've always been of the mind that if you have to cheat to enjoy a game, you need to find a different game. Or a different hobby, if you just can't stand having to make money altogether.

Absolutely not.

I wish every gold buyer was permanently banned from every online game.

I consider Gold to be part of the game. I love seeing how quick I can hit 1gold and Gold milestones (50, 100, etc) are just as important to me as level milestones.

Yes in Vanilla wow to buy a fast mount. I hate grinding for gold and have a decent job. It is worth a few bucks for someone else to do it for me.

@Clemalum07 Yep. I can't take the moral high ground on this issue-- the one and only time I bought gold was to get money for the epic mount in vanilla WoW. I weighed spending 15 bucks against spending a week doing nothing but grinding to get it, and at the time I didn't realize that the gold also came from compromised accounts. I wouldn't do it again, both because of that and because I've learned to just enjoy the games I play rather than get caught up in getting more.

Ive never bought gold and never will.
To me "earning" the gold is as much a part of the game as anything else.

Not only that but i mean its really not that hard to make your own money in a game.

In some games, there is a legit way to buy and sell money. Like how Vanguard and a couple EQ2 servers have LiveGamer support.

I actually did buy Vanguard plat in order to buy a boat. There was no real need for it, but it didn't cost me much, and the money I spent went to another player. I don't feel bad about it.
