Hmm..how would this be compared to Mytheon? I've played Mytheon but didn't have the chance to play this one yet, it looks more promising.

@paterah Similar names =/= similar game. Completely different.

@(Unverified) It's not completely different, both are Diablo genre with top down view and whatnot.

@paterah Mytheon is a monster army-control type card deck style dungeon-crawler, while this game is more like a Diable-esque style Torchlight-ish MMO with a million options for customization.

Does that make sense? We games need shorter names for stuff. :)

I assumed, at first, that this was a 2.5D "Diablo-esque" game but the screenshots look like a standard 3D MMO.

Does it drop to 2.5D in dungeons?

@Pingles For what ive seen you can zoom in for a standart third person view or isometric view like diablo.

@Pingles Yeh you go into "normal" isometric dungeon crawler mode if you want. I was just taking some screens of my killer character! Really, the only place the camera cannot move is up into looking at the sky.

Though thegame is fun in theory, there's a few glaring problems with it.

The first being the stamina system. At lower levels stamina does not seem to be a problem, though as you get higher in level the amount of stamina required to enter dungeons exponentially increases while your pool doesn't. It's a problem. The largest problem with this though is the inability to pick up loot past the blue tier, whcih may sound okay, until you realise that it also lowers your loot chanses for all tiers below. So if you were getting 20 white / green drops per map, you might get 5-7 now. So farming goes completely out the window in any regard.

Secondly the skills are pretty boring. There's not much verity in the class i played (summoner equivalent), and most of the first 20 levels or so in the tree I went down ended up only powering up the same units I had since level 5 and 10.

Last but not least, the majority of the game literally is a diablo clone. You get a cube similar to diablo's horadric cube. Teleports and shops look and feel almost identical. To many this would be a good thing, but to me I found this a bit boring - like rehashing the same game which was good in its time but definitely fails to recapture some of the elements which i personally liked most about diablo, the theme - and impending sense of doom. Instead you're left with a bubbly, almost silly jaunt through a MMO world which feels unoriginal, with some pretty bad business decisions.

@hav won

I'm not sure if I'm understanding you correctly, but I've looted both purple and yellow items from mobs.

I really like the game, but I don't play any game longer than an hour or two, so that stamina/fatigue system hasn't affected me yet. I can understand others hating it though. When are developers going to learn how poorly these systems go over in the west?

This is one game that *might* get me to try a F2P. I'll keep an eye on it.

I played the Mythos beta back in the day (not this version, though) and what appealed to me about it was its soloability -- dungeons scaled to solo players and player groups, accordingly, as I recall. I hope that's still the case. The biggest negative for me (back then) was the lack of story depth.

Thanks for the report, Beau.

This article is very close to my feelings into the game.

Unfortunately I fear for the future of the Europe and US versions.

Neither of the respective Publishers are able to alter the game themselves. (Yes I understand that's what publishers do) So this leads to having to "forward" ideas, So patches are unlikely to come at a reasonable rate and will most likely not include things needed for the respective players.

I don't know if the US and Europe versions are competing for patches from Habitsoft. But I do know that the Europe version has yet to receive a patch since it's Stress Test and closed beta (It is going into open beta in April).

So why am i worried about patches. Well if you take a look at the last screenshot. (which is of the character sheet screen) You will notice a Stamina bar, no thats not an XP bar. That is the stamina bar, Stamina gets reduced every time you enter a dungeon, the higher you level the quicker it goes down. It's not effected by dungeon level but by your own level.
What this means is you are limited by the number of dungeons you can run a day, which means you will think twice about helping your friend to do a dungeon and think twice about grouping because you want to get the most out of each run.

Of course there a petition to get it removed and they say there is a "patch" coming.. well they have been saying that for a month.

When you say "twitchy combat", do you mean 1:1 style, click-and-swing?

@cowboyhugbees Yeh basically you go CLICK and your lil dude goes SWING. :) Or, of course, PEW PEW.

I'm really loving the closed beta! I know that some feel that this is a rehash of D2 style, but I think this is an especially good rendition on a MMO scale.

I've reached lvl 17 and I haven't noticed my stamina bar drop more than 1/6th of the whole bar. It does seem pretty counterintuitive since later levels will need a lot more dungeon running.

The biggest concern I have right now is the crafting is seriously buggy. I hope this gets fixed really soon.

Massively, can you guys look into (do an interview) about this patching problem that was discussed in a previous comment? I want to love this game, but I don't want to get into it and then find that it will take ages for new content/patches to come.

Hey all....I got a key for this buy cant figure out how the hell to download anything. I see no where on the site to enter your key, the download button doesnt work and the server status on the site says offline. Did I miss something or is the beta no longer going?

I plan on checking this out soon, just to see what it's all about. I'm looking forward to the fully 3d over the back camera instead of forced isometric, if that is indeed what was said earlier in the comments. Bad cameras upset me, though I suppose if the free camera is no good there is still the isometric.

I got sick of torchlight after, oh, IDK, level 25 or something. It was just so boring. You get your max skill and spam it and that's all you invest points in anymore. I forget which character I had, but I just had a laser beam after awhile and it killed everything, the end.

Still... when it comes to dungeon crawlers, I'm going to be focusing on diablo3 over anything else.

Beau.... did you play this through the European Beta program? the US site seems to be... out of date as of July of last year... and the forum said something about a hardware failure that killed the server...

I'd really like to give this game a go... but as it is, there doesnt seem to be a way to play it from the US.. as I dont think they'll take a US player for the EU closed beta...

@(Unverified) I'm in the US and in the EU beta. The only problem I find (and I wonder if anyone else is having the same problem), it seems during the day (probably when the servers are crowded) the game sputters a lot. I have a 15MBs internet connection so thats not it, just seems to sputter to the point of being not playable. Later on in the evening it seems to work fine though. The game is fun. :) I can't wait till the US version as well, to see if they make any changes.
