It was a nice vid however I am disappointed. I was not expecting a release date but we are getting closer to the spring 2011 date which they stated the game would be released. BUt I am disappointed because I wanted to see more.

Don't get your panties in a wad, they stopped using the Spring 2011 thing last year, so there's no Spring 2011 deadline to meet. Too many MMOs release buggy and unfinished to meet a deadline. Think of it this way: Would you rather have the game early, or would you rather have it when it's finished?

When you put it like that the choice is obvious, but that doesn't mean there is no room for disappointment. Nobody watches a trailer like this and says "wow, i hope that i don't get to play this for another year".

I wouldn't get too disappointed at what the others are saying.

What is told in the ear of a man is often heard 100 miles away.

Nothing official has changed since the conference call, the rumor mill keeps turning however.

"Star Wars: The Old Republic is expected to launch this year after the close of EA's fiscal 2011 (which ends March 31st, 2011). Information on the release date and pre-order programs will be released as it becomes available."

Anything between April 1st - December 31st.

Besides, there is absolutely no reason to launch and official guild portal when the release would be a year away, the hype that it would cause would be forgotten and burried by then.

Not too thrilled to be honest. I can't say I'm digging the character animations and unblinking stares. For being the next big thing, it looks kinda 5 years ago.

WoW's the current big MMO on the block and it looked 10 years ago when it launched 5 years ago(as in it also looked 5 years ago when it launched), your point?

You don't hide the fanboy very well do you
As it's been stated, just because they plan on following in world of warcrafts footsteps doesnt mean the game has to look as mediocre as the game it's modeling itself after.

Well, plenty of others seem to like it and it's not going to change.

Maybe you are just looking at very old pictures, because the new ones have tremendous detail.

Here's a video to help you with that.

Hmm, I'm not liking that example. I want more from SWTOR. I thought WoW looked like crap at launch and still does today.

@(Unverified) It's all about reaching a larger audience. They know not everyone can run games with high realism graphics, so they set a "stylized" look for the game which requires less PC horsepower.

Sadly, I agree wholeheartedly after watching that trailer. Those "thousand-yard stares" are kind of unsettling and unfeeling. I get using a more basic style to accommodate a wider user-base, but these graphics look pre-LOTRO. Hopefully the story-telling and Bioware-pizazz can carry the game.

It would almost be worth getting religion so that I can pray they don't screw this one up as much as Sony did Galaxies...
