I hope this means the game is coming sooner rather than later.

Great tool, really. Props for BioWare. Hope it's coming in May or June!

While I think it is a little early to be getting a guild ready I do like the search concept. I hope it becomes more standard for other games too. A keyword search that would look at guild descriptions would be cool too.

I don't know if it's really a great idea to invest a lot of time building a guild before an MMO comes out.

I know a huge group of gamers that were really enthusiastic about making a guild for FFXIV. They set up a killer website with forums and a chatbox and IRC and mumble or ventrillo or something, y'know, the works. They set up guild rules and guidelines and really thought the whole thing out, and snowballed up to 200+ members right before launch.

I recently went to their guild website, and apparently it was taken down. I tried asking around, but it seems like none of the people involved in the guild are there any more. I guess the guild died because so many people quit FFXIV and because of the lack of support for guilds in-game. (Where the hell are the "adventure companies" they were talking about?)

So much time and effort gone to waste.

I know, hopefully SWTOR will have a much better launch than FFXIV, and this guild search and creation page certainly makes it look like Bioware will support guilds a lot more than Square Enix has, but still, I wouldn't do too much work on forming a guild until open beta at the earliest.

The guild page is happily quite informative. The biggest problem I can see is they can't promise you a server for the timezone you want. ( East coast vs. West coast)

Is there an early name registration thing too for characters?

@Anticrawl dont think so and it doesnt sound like this will even be implemented at all or at least before they even have a server list..

as for the guild creation feature, im loving it! i wish more MMOs would give the players these kind of features prior to release. then we wouldnt have a need for websites like guildportal and such

Been playing with this, getting my current guild who are looking at TOR all set up. Really great features - genuinely very happy with it. Probably won't use the guild forums they provide at all because we have our own site but everything else from the search functions to the application processes are all extremely well catered for.

My only gripe is being unable to join or create more than one guild per account name. I realise that after release we'll be able to join as many guilds as we have characters, but we really wanted to set up a Republic guild and an Empire guild for our players and so far only have the Empire set up.

So Larry, dare I ask if there is a Massively guild set up yet, and if so are you manning it up?

I will never again commit to a guild before I play with their members in some sort of group content. Its almost always a recipe for disaster.

No Oceanic/Australian timezone option? Cue sinking feeling.

Even if they don't have servers specifically to cater to our timezones, surely they should have the option to specify that a guild will cater to us? *sigh*

On PvE servers, Imperial and Republic guilds are running neck and neck.

On PvP servers, Empire outnumbers Republic 2 to 1.

Can't say I'm shocked...

Heh. Me either. I would hope for something diff't but really it's the same PvP-wise in almost every single two faction MMO.

Well I know one thing it'll make recruiting new members to your guild a lot easier. I'm really liking this guild HQ, atm the forums are a bit buggy but I'm sure they will work those bugs out soon.
Check out my guild page and site! :)

This sort of thing has got to be good for guilds who don't have their own websites so I tip my hat to Bioware for offering it.

But I think The Secret World has a much better one, built by a (one-day) player.

Score 1 for shameless cross-promotion :)
