Are you enjoying DC Universe Online? Would you be enjoying it even more if you had a chance to speak with the developers about what's on deck for the near future and what issues will be getting addressed soon? If so, you're in luck (and you have some strangely focused sources of happiness, but that's not really germane to anything). The team announced earlier today on the game's Facebook page that this Wednesday will see the first post-launch virtual chat with development.
Jens Anderson, Chris Cao, and Mark Anderson will all be on hand for this chat, starting at 8 p.m. EST (5 p.m. PST) on Facebook. The chief focus of the discussion will be on the game's recent February update, covering what went right, what needs more work, and what the team has learned from the first patch in what's sure to be an ongoing update cycle. So if you're a DC Universe Online fan, with or without the oddly specific criteria, you might want to clear out some time tomorrow evening to catch up with the development team.

And the chat will go something like this.
Dear fans..the game is losing subs faster than Charlie Sheen is losing his credibility as a human. Were going F2P now, lifers we will give you 100 station cash a month and a nifty "The rube" forum title.
Stay tune for our next cash gr..errr upcoming mmo announcement.

its funny everytime i see one of these comments.
I'm not even a DC fanboi (I prefer marvel, Spiderman is the man IMO)
Lord knows I hold no love for sony either. That being said my server sees a steady population during primetime queues of no longer than 10 minutes for 2v2 legends at offtimes and a good supply of non-asshat players all around. For once a MMO developer did something right, made sure the core game was solid before adding all the bells and whistles. The WoW crowd will likely detest it as it is, and well many DCU players are just fine with that. No, really, we are.
Take DCU for what it is a fairly casual mmo beat-em up that can be enjoyed by a wide range of people. Hell its all my 4yr old son can talk about most nights.
For all the people who expected CoH 3.0 (we all know CO is CoX 2.0) why not stop hating and accept the game for what it is and enjoy it as such?

Sorry, CO is not CoX 2.0, it is more like CoX 0.7++.
I added ++ for the updated graphics engine and nifty powers/missions/ ideas factor, but it still has nowhere near as much content as CoX. DCUO, on the other hand, plays more like X-Men:Legends 2.0 with travel powers, button mashing for the win.

Wonder why they're not having the chat in-game. Oh that's right, the in-game chat interface is considered torture under the Geneva conventions...

I'm looking forward to see what the March content will be. If they keep it up they will be keeping their word on monthly content.
I've also notice that more of the complaints are about server population and not as much about bugs. That says to me that those of us playing it really enjoy the gameplay, we just want more people to enjoy it with us.

True, but I know the PS3 servers are still going strong. Death and Glory is still the highest populated server on PC.
It's good to see the concern, but I do think it is too soon for any mergers, even though I see some groups moving on the forums. One must also consider hero-to-villain ration. I play most on VnV and the ratio seems to be 5:1 in favor of heroes.
I also think that the queue system still is broken in some areas and needs fixing and this aggrevates the problem on all servers.

"Death and Glory is still the highest populated server on PC."
From what I understand, that's true, but I've been on D&G since launch and I've noticed a decline for awhile. The last week has been very interesting for me because the Hall of Doom has *felt* more empty than the past (I stress the 'felt' part). Even dropping in to Metropolis or Gotham the place just doesn't feel no where near as full or packed as it used to.
I don't know if everyone is instancing or what, but the game feels like it's lost people, a lot (on PC).

PS3 population is probably 10x's the PC population. So its doing well for what is is...console MMO. The game is far from in trouble(well, the PC side is limping but surviving) so won't be going F2P anytime this year.
What's really hurting this MMO and others is RIFT and DA2. This is a great year for games and movies. Unfortunately, they're all going to eat into each other and kill a couple publisher/producers.

That was first month sales, dude. I believe he tweeted that the 2nd week of release.
The numbers have changed since then.

Only on the PC side. PS3 side has medium to high volumes on all servers. I think there were 2 more PS3 servers than PC servers. Or maybe 3. I donno.
PC side...2 servers hit medium. The rest are low.
And its hard to say with the PC population. People play so casually on that thing. I still see people running around, ganking each other. Its what you expect though. The game was built for consoles...SOE just decided that PC players would like to share their money with them too.

even at "low" population, there are no shortages of people to play with, run hard alerts with or clear out your Duo's for the day. Using those definative terms out of context does more harm than good and gives a false impression of ghost town servers. When such is far from the case.
The only time there is a long wait for a queue is the occasional PvP match queues can take awhile on a PvE server. otherwise rarely longer than 5 minute waits for any group content outside of a raid. (yes PuGging raids is still a bad idea here)

It's hard to have any faith in a game when the CR removes your forum signature that was a direct quote from SOE's president.
"We've learned a thing or two with our experiences with the NGE and don't plan on repeating mistakes from the past and not listening to the players."
—John Smedley, president of Sony Online Entertainment
