Thief with... dual pistols?

It sounds great and looks great. I hope it'll mix in some elements I loved about the Corsair class (FFXI) or what was supposed to be the Musketeer class (FFXIV).

But I gotta say. Being a Norn Ranger with a bear pet and turning into a bear still sounds better.

@Trippin No, it's fine -- we really do have ArenaNet's blessing for this. They revealed the Thief at the same time. Thank you for giving us a heads-up just in case! :-)

DW Pistols + DW Daggers = My build. Gonna be so awesome.

Now we just need the Mesmer and we are SET!

So the expected Rogue-esque class has Dual Pistols. Maybe now all this talk of the unkown class being a "gunner class" will go away and we can start getting some good speculation going! :P

Will be interested to see how the "stealing from enemies" ability works in combat.

Oh and...what the hell is that Tail all about?? I hear them say in the vid "it needs to be that big for balance", and maybe thats true from a technical "real animal" stand point, but come on... It just looks comical.

Anyway, awesome stuff. Cant wait to see more of this as more info comes in over the weekend. Roll on GW2 main site update!

@Kovnic
The Thief also uses dual daggers, so I don't think we can necessarily assume that there still isn't going to be a gun-centric class.

Besides, the "Gunner" class is speculated to be based around rifles like the Ranger is based around the bow.

I love the downed stage! Nice that you can hit while you are down for a fighting chance :)

The game looks pretty good... though I must protest the condition of this recording... camera too shaky to see the details of the screen... and lol at the part the Char getting owned by two moa birds :p

Why is this class being called Thief? From the description the class should be named exactly as "Assassin"... I wouldn't call a class "thief" unless the playstyle involves a lot of stealing/ninja debuffing etc.

@kgptzac

And I quote...

"As a master of stealth and surprise, the thief is deadly in single combat – particularly when catching enemies off guard. Thieves compensate for their relatively low armor and health by being quick and evasive. They can travel through the shadows, vanish into thin air, or steal items from their opponents and use them as weapons."

So yeah.

@Apakal

so the question becomes, given description, shouldn't the term "assassin" fits beyer than term "thief" in both aspects of the original meaning of the words and their conventional application in mmo?

@kgptzac

This all depends on how much they emphasize the "stealing" of opponents items.

Assassin and thief share a lot of similarities sure, but I think given the description thief is a little more accurate. I'm sure it will become more definite as they release more details about the profession.

@kgptzac Imo thief is better, assassin only describes the combat playstyle of the character.
