For those people who like this sort of thing, I am glad this option exists. I would never play on such a server, but that doesn't mean those that do, shouldn't be able to have one.

gona be crap as all classes need to be balanced for full lewt to work.

Just let me know the most OP class in PVP and I'll roll it.

@Mad Dog
You know how to tell people who can't handle open pvp with full loot? (and will send you hate tells in game?)
They say crap like this.

People who like this kind of rule-set just figure out what the powerful classes are, and shun the weak ones.

Rock, paper, scissors is bad?

So, let me get this strait... The game is balanced by everything having a counter?

Yeah.. That's totally bad... I hate balance. I want to be able to kill anything with my [insert random class/build here]. Otherwise it is not fair and I will cry more.

Correct there will be no proper balance in games with classes.
There is also no player skill involved in game where you hit TAB to target some one then spam 123 on ya hotbar...
There's also the fact that AOC is a bit crappy.

I think Funcom wants to make this seriously work for the PvP'ers in AoC. They stated they will make any adjustment requested. You have to give them kudos for trying this. Most MMO companies don't make this attempt. I hope it works out because this really is an amazing MMO that has come along way since release. Also they are going to make adjustments for faction grinds and MOA's.

Jeff- I think this is the comeback kid moment for AoC if it all works out.

Yeah I'm glad they're doing it. At the very least it may alleviate some of the vitriol on the o-boards.

It's an interesting experiment for sure.

Adding servers to the game suggests AoC is experiencing a modest upswing of interest already.

No it is more the fact that there is virtually no one on the current pvp servers so they want to try something different.

I like this idea, I hope they push it all the way and it works out for them. Would be nice if it was connected to something else to bring people back as well.

Considering they had a few server mergers in the years since release, this is a bit of a surprise.

Although, when most of the player base who likes this starts playing on this new server, does that mean that the old servers get down-sized? Based on Funcom history, I see a "Yes" in my magic 8-ball.

It does look like they are catering even more to the niche market-segment, but how far can it go and still retain long subscriber numbers?

@Space Cobra

I kind of doubt that the PvE servers will be affected much at all tbh. A lot of people talk tough on forums and in global chat, but the reality is that corpse-looting servers appeal to a minority. Exactly how small that minority really is could be one of the more interesting nuggets to come out of this.

Good for them for giving this a shot. Not my thing but I would like to see this kind of thing pay off for them so other games might try shaking things up a bit.

i give it 6 months, then we get a massively post about it shutting down from lack of interest. You don't do player looting with a traditional level-based themepark and not expect horrific imbalances.

I'm getting very annoyed at the copycat mentality of MMOs. "Hey. EQ made a classic server and its doing well, lets make one too! "

I'm definitely going to consider a resub. Corpse looting was not the reason I unsubbed, but I like it. Funcom severely gimped PVP with their new rules after launch. It looks like this new server might return AoC to its PVP glory days. If anything, it will help the environment get back to the dark, chaotic nature that was expressed in the Conan literature.
