I won't be joining Belmont this time. It was full all the time. I only joined it because it reminded me of Castlevania.

Alot of servers there...hopefully they don't pull a WAR and wind up with too many servers across a small playerbase.

Im not interested in the game, so it don't matter to me. But having 15+ servers on launch is quite alot.

What ever PvE server I choose, its going to ridiculously over-crowded until they launch more. But, rather need more servers than have too few, eh?

@Carbon204 More can be added, it's a bit grating to see servers removed, though (see: Warhammer Online).

They had over 40 servers at one point in beta, so the starting list is conservative.

@Dirtyboy

no, its better to release with few servers and add on, then to have player split too far , and have to take away or merge servers, which presents greater technical and development challenge. For examples see warhammer and pirates of the burning sea post launch

That sounds like you just agreed entirely with his statement that it was conservative (i.e. careful).

I'm probably going to be on Sunrest. In my experience RP servers tend to have a more mature player base.

And in my experience they tend to have the worst player base. Enforcing you in general chat that you shouldn't be speaking in anything other than thee's and thou's. No thanks, if I wanted rules enforced on me for the way I play games I'll buy an Apple product and join the iSheep.

Speaking with "thee's" and "thou's" would only be appropriate in a game where the NPC's spoke the same way. That is not the case with Rift. Or, for that matter, any MMO I have yet to play.

Speaking in character in public channels is not the same as sounding like an anachronistic moron.

@TheNexxuvas That's fine. You don't sound like the type anyone would want anywhere near a RP server anyway, seeing as you've no idea what it is or how it works.

Please, whatever you do, don't roll on an RP server, because you're clearly entirely (and more than likely willfully) ignorant to what they're like. I've played on RP servers since I began playing MMOs ages ago, and not once have I encountered a single person who spoke Olde English, much less in general chat, and even much less tried to enforce it upon other people.

Learn what you're talking about before you comment next time, would you kindly?

I would take "thee's" and "thou's" over "u" and "ur" anyday.

But as everyone else pointed out...RP'res don't speak like, because their races and dialects used don't speak like that. In fact it would be considered "out of character" if they do. Not to mention, sounding ridiculous. Some RP'ers can be a bit snooty and retentive at times...but none I know, including myself speak in Shakespear or King James when we RP.

I say upon thee on this very day that thouart a naive in the art of the role play and ye should mind thy tongue least it leads your head astray.

For your ignorance is like-unto a watermelon where the stiff shell of callousness belies a weak interior of spirit. It is but your saving grace that I thusly did'st find your mind a tasty treat to feast upon.

(you mean like that?, yeah, no one does that on any modern MMO)

I'll be the first to admit that I rarely RP myself. However, I absolutely love an environment where general chat isn't overflowing with WoW comparisons, political diatribes and Chuck Norris jokes.

@aurickle Unfortunately if Beta is anything to do by, any world chat will be full of WoW people and kids getting all excited that they have another audience and thinking they are funny. The very first thing I will be doing when logging on for the first time is typing "/leave 4" to opt out of the soul sapping "Level 1-9" channel.

Yeah, give it a month after launch; things will shake down to normal after the free month lapses.

According to http://www.ausmmo.com.au/mmo-articles/rift/66-unofficial-oceanic-rift-server.html Wolfsbane is the oceanic server, at least until we get one officially set to the timezone.

Going to Briarcliff probably. Seems like where a lot of the top world pvp guilds are going to be going to.
