Nice informative interview, I'm glad that someone else out there enjoys in-game song soundtracks besides myself. It seems that most people turn off the music in whatever game it is and replace it with pandora or grooveshark or whatever. Its too bad because there are some really nice soundtracks in many games, and RoM is certainly one of them.

Big props to Jeremy for digging up all that info and tracking down the composers and producers!

I totally forgot about the connection with the Spellforce games but that's absolutely true!. In fact one of the early criticisms about RoM's original Korean version, and then the German version when RoM was called "Radiant Arcana" as it was in the first early English translations, was that ALL of the music tracks were from Spellforce (the first one). Then later I guess they added some tracks from Spellforce 2, and only much more recently created several original tracks - finally!

I personally didn't mind the re-used tracks, as probably most people hadn't even played Spellforce. I did think the music sounded familiar, I guess because I *had* played Spellforce to completion (great game btw) but if you recall RoM had that weird audio bug forever where music would never repeat itself, or would instantly cut off when moving between zones, so the chance to actually listen to the in-game music was rare. Its a lot better now that they fixed that pretty much.

I love that song that plays just outside Varanas where there is actually a female vocalist singing, very haunting and soulful. I would sometimes ride through there just to hear that song.The same melodic theme is used in several other zones which ties things together nicely. That was one of the originals from Spellforce, Mostly all really good tunes throughout the entire game.

@Slayblaze

It's the Tagena track. You have to make the cross into Tagena. I used to sit on the Island in the middle of Lake of Magic Mist and wait so I didn't break the music(from the early days, like you mention). The Tagena music is my favorite.

Nice Interview! Thank you very much Jeremy! :)

I love the soundtrack in Runes of Magic. I copied the mp3's to my mobile phone. So, when I listen to the music (trains, in cars and so on) I remember to the nice places in RoM. For example the soundtrack in Ravenfell is very cool. When I hear this soundtrack I remember to the summer '09 when I had played this zone with my character ^^

And for the german boys and girls we have a german translation on http://www.RoM-Welten.de
