"It is a good day to hunt."
So say the Norn in Guild Wars -- they're cheerful and eager to meet challenges, and today's Norn week kickoff tells us that it's a typical attitude that will carry on in Guild Wars 2. They've been through various challenges including being driven from their homeland, but the Norn truly "project a positive attitude," according to lore and continuity designer Jeff Grubb.
This new blog entry offers a brief introduction to the Wayfarer Foothills area of Guild Wars 2 and gives a deeper look into the culture of the Norn. Players familiar with Eye of the North will recognize traits of the current race of Norn, while those unfamiliar with the game as it is now will enjoy a thorough introduction to how the race thinks and feels.
Check out the new information at ArenaNet's blog, and keep your eyes open for our review and analysis of Norn week in next Monday's Flameseeker Chronicles.

I haven't been following this much until today. I've spend literally the past 5-6 hours reading the entire Dev blog and everything else I can find.
This game is going to be amazing.

Guild Wars 2 is gonna reshape the face of MMOs forever from the point it releases onwards it'll do for the market what Guild Wars did when it first came out

I don't know about reshaping the future of MMOs... it seems a bit premature to be making such all encompassing comments. GW1 while an interesting game, was definately not for everyone.
That said I will definately pick up the second, as I did the first, and reserve my judgement until I actually get a chance to play it.

Norn with a rifle...?
I'm sure the other races would call that thing a cannon then compared to them! Loving the detail and work on that though.

At first I thought you were joking.
"Nah, that's just silly, how could they have firearms in the... hey, she's holding a rifle-looking thing!"
I'm aware the dwarfs had barrels of gunpowder-like stuff that allowed you to blow up doors in Guild Wars. I was not aware they had developed firearms in Guild Wars 2. Please let there be sniper rifles!

Guild Wars 2 is set 250 years after Guild Wars 1. So yes rifles exist. As to whether or not there are sniper rifles. I have no idea. Although that picture does seem to support a sniper like class... oh god, the possibilities...

Actually, its completely possible that the Charr are the ones behind the guns creation. Explosives were more likely just an invention by the dwarves used in mining.
Since something major occurred at the end of Eyes of the North, the Charr have come up to push for the purely technical side (Asuran technology is more a melding of it and magic, while Charr is straight up technology), hence the flamethrower in Ghosts of Ascalon. So guns are likely a Charr creation.
As for how the Norn got a hold of them, the two races have always been more of an odd co-habitation, so its not surprising, specially now.

Almost every MMO has rifle as a second ranged weapon to bow. Don't be so surprised ;)

Forget the rifle, are those itty bitty people in the background (attack of the 50 foot norn!) or is there something seriously up with the perspective in this photo.

Martin and Regina (community managers) over on the Guild Wars 2 Guru Forums said that she is standing up really high in the hall. The people down below are actually the same height as her (roughly 9 feet).
