Calling all Star Wars Galaxies adventurers -- the SOE community team is planning to pour its heart out with the fans in a developer webcast later today! If you want to get the inside scoop on the Ewok Festival of Love and the Bonus Everything Weekend, then you will definitely want to catch this chat.
The webcast will take place today, February 17th, at 4:00 p.m. PST on Stickam, according to a Facebook announcement. The devs will be talking about the current in-game events as well as dropping "a few hints about what's coming up next."
The Ewok Festival of Love is a month-long (February 10th through March 10th) event in which the cute and cuddly inhabitants of the forest moon of Endor celebrate good feelings, good food and their obsession with flight. By participating in the events, players can earn several special rewards including housing items, pets, and decorative wings. Because nothing strikes fear in Stormtroopers like Jedi with itsy-bitsy wings!

It's a good game. Not great. The FPSish combat and horrible ship controls are keeping it down. At least for me. If it wasn't for those (especially combat - the ol' reflexes ain't what they used to be), they'd definitely be getting my money...

FPS? Reflexes? You know there's auto-targeting dont you? Not sure what you mean.
Also, space combat is the best part imo. I use a wireless joystick and when I aim at things and pull the trigger, these laser guns fire and sometimes things blow up! Honestly it's as close to being in the movies as i can imagine.
People give SWG a bad rap because of the NGE stuff, and i admit it was bad move way back when, but it's honestly evolved into a really great game and definitely my favorite. I recently returned to SWG after five years off and I'm having a frikkin blast. People really need to give it anotherchance, because it's honestly amazing on so many levels.

Well, if you ask me that’s completely relative. How do you define good vs. great? It’s a matter of personal opinion for sure, but I will tend to lean toward great with SWG.
As far as ship combat and flight goes, I don’t care what game it is, if I’m going to dogfight I use a flight stick…screw keyboard & mouse for trying to fly. Since M$ deprived me of replacing my old Sidewinder, I use a Logitech Force 3D Pro. Lot of top buttons and triggers for single click key functions and the maneuverability of a stick

@Integral what exactly gave you the impression that I was anything resembling upset? I think it's just your ...attempt...at trying to push someone's buttons on the webz? That's adorable.
You're spending time out of your 'life' to rage about SWG, not me. I'm here because I really enjoy it, and I like talking about it.
A lot of people love SWG. and you're making it increasingly transparent that you for some reason harbor a lot of anger towards the game and anyone who enjoys it, which is quite amusing...to me. pew pew!
I'm spending the weekend in SWG and I can't wait! Bet that really gets yer panties in a bunch, eh? Amazing.

I've tried it and the "iconic classes" kill the heart of what I loved about the game which was to adventure and create my own character and not fillin xp for a predefined cless that tells me who I am.

In the original SWG you still did that, you were just filling boxes within 32 predetermined classes with xp instead. SWG has always had XP, just more obvious different types. It still has multiple xp routes. Crafters and entertainers still get their xp outside combat.

You do understand that Sony lost a huge majority of the subscriber base for that game because of the NGE right and you are trying to defend Sony and those actions?

@RogueJedi86 agree completely. No gmae offers what this game does, and it loks like SWTOR is just going to be a dumbed-down theme park. I'm not sure why anyone toerates theme parks, because great games like SWG offer a sandbox AND a theme park in one. You want an open-ended complex universe with endless things to do and see? you got it. You want a guided tour through instances and battlefields and dungeons? you got that too. Not to mention:
• The best looking realistic motion capture out there
• Ground and space components complex enough to be stand-alone games themselves
• Space: free-flight, twitch-based, complex, PVE, PVP, Ship component customizations, astromech programming, ship crafting profession, POB ships as well as single player fighters, mining, etc.
• The most rich, deep, and complex crafting system you can imagine
• Player-driven economy. Everything in game from food to ships is player crafted
• Beautiful, enormous planets to explore( I love just taking off into the unknown expanses of a planet and exploring for hours)
• Player cities, player housing(I love traveling to cities and exploiring the amazing layouts and houses people create. Never gets old. And yes, there's still plenty of unspoiled wilderness without houses.
• I miss having 32 professions, but honestly the game still has everyting it had before, it's just stuffed into 9 professions.
I I could go on and on...Sure I've got my own gripes about little things, but that's a given in MMO's. Bottom line is, tthis game is a winner despite the narrow-minded outdated haters that keep giving it grief for no good reason other than not having anything better to do.
If you're into SW or Scifi in general, this game is a must see. Nothing comes close to offering what it has to offer, and those who don't appreciate it just seem like they don't have a clue, honestly.
ok, I'll stop there. I just really believe that this game deserves a lot more credit and is severely underrated.
TL;DR - SWG is an epic good time for anyone into SW or SciFi in general. Don't believe everything you hear. It's a lot of fun.
