More time was invested in the creating of this video, then was invested on their chat system and UI.

What you say is soooo not true....Which makes the chat system/UI worse.

The UI is fine to me. But the Chat system is not helping the game.

Something is just off about Sony as a company. They think with their wallets and ignore the fact if players are having fun, they will stick around longer. There really is no need to gate the powers and content. And now they've backed themselves into a corner trying to fix the UI and deliver new content.

But they do similar tactics with their tv's and stereos so oh well.

BTW, loving DCUO and bought a lifetime but I think this is the last SOE game I buy. Wouldn't have bought this one except I love comics. And I used to be an SOE fan until this launch.

@CCon99 Haha pwned them! XD

Seriously, those are just the same sort of "access keys" for higher instances, the same as radiance gear is for LOTRO. And see how popular that was... It's always "you need this and that gear to go to this instance", which is total BS. It's just a very very bad replacement for not having enough content.

@Elikal

So its the same thing as WoW, you're saying? And the same thing as AO? And SWG? And CoX? And virtually every MMO that has any sort of endgame gear "requirement?'

They can't change *every* formula and hope ot have a successful MMO. Some things just have to exist.

Oh, and at least in DCUO you're not actually locked out of the content, like you are in WoW. If you're skilled enough, you can run the Outer Caverns in greens and blues. Without exploits.

FYI Sony takes a loss on every PS3 and PSP they sell and are planning to do so with the NGP too, so your hypothesis is incorrect. Reevaluate.

pfft... useless. The sad thing about these suits, is not only is the cost of them require you to run the same 2 raids/alerts for months, but the that the stats on them are so minor compared to the tier 1 stuff that most people wont even bother to grind for them...and yes, it is a major grind. this also assumes that the raid bosses will drop the required marks and loot, which lately they have not been doing. It's funny how they release these videos showing of stuff that should be cool about the game, yet all you need do is drop in on their forums (PS3) and you will quickly see through the smoke and mirrors of this very much single player game and it's tacked on multiplayer. If this is supposed to be the flagship MMO title for Sony and its console MMO's, then they need to go back to the drawing board and try again, and this time be serious about releasing a finished product that has all the features and support that go along with an MMO title, and not just talk about it like this guy and the rest of the "faces' for this game have done.

@SFGamer69 Actually, they are expanding the amount of raid content this month along with duo's and alerts. Plus there are 4 ways outside of raids to get the marks. So your estimate of months doing the same two raids might not be based on the best information.

Personally, yes this game has bugs but the foundation of the game is good. It'd be better to fix things than to completely re-do it. I'd rather play the game as it is now while waiting for patches than to not play it for how many months or years it would take till gamer gadflies with no intention of really every playing the game declare it suits their standards.

welcome to EVERY MMO's early months?
WoW had the sma trouble only that required 40 people to act in concert several ngihts a week for months on end to get Tier 1 gear. Oh and you wer elucky if your class loot dropped and that you could get it. some people took almost a year to get that armor in WoW.
Similar issues arise in almost any MMO. WAR had similar problems with its endgame gear...(still does i hear) Aion same complaints....its nothing new its gamers hitting the initial content wall and calmoring for instant gratificatio after years of being spoonfed content/rewards in 'OTHER' games.

Chris does look pretty worn out; he must have been trying to use text chat on the PS3 edition.

That guy has never looked all that enthusiastic in these videos. He looks as if he hates doing these videos with his somewhat monotone voice.

They should have hired the guy from the Warhammer Videos, Paul Barnett. I bought the collector's edition because of that guy. Sadly, it sits in it's box to this very day, unopened, and unloved. Yes, I played the Beta. Yes, I hated myself soooo much for not canceling the preorder...

Still, if Paul could sell me the MMORPG version of Hellgate London, just imagine what he could do with this game. Combined with the fact that suit made me not hate Super Man for a few seconds? Yes please.

Yeah, anyone who played SWG won't forget him. He was always trying to convince everyone that 9 professions were going to be better than 30+ and that the NGE had to be done to save SWG because it was going to bring in lots of new subscriptions. He's also remembered for his infamous "Players who post and posters who play the boards" rant that started a forum riot. Fun times! =p

I remember pre-NGE and the forums full of whiners and people rage quitting because of balance issues, grind and high barrier of entry to many features. SWG was broken at release. I also remember then barren servers pre-NGE. So regardless of what happened, SWG was doomed.

Obviously they weren't so doomed, they've kept the game running with drastically less subs then from before the NGE and that's despite all the money they dropped designing 2 combat "upgrades" and the mass marketing push around Episode 3 with TV ads they tried use to bring in "all of those players the NGE was going to steal away from WoW".

9 professions are better than 30+. When SWG had 30+ professions, people only used the 4 or 5 that were massively overpowered compared to the other 25+.

Balance is a good thing, and so is diversity. It's not "Jedi or bust" anymore.
