No you got it wrong... it's "I need a guy" not "I need a man" or perhaps... "I need a girl".

My usual response is "I need a taco" or "I need a burrito" depending on my mood.

Oh, you didn't mention the dreaded "Combat Upgrade" of which SOE is so fond.

Hold on. Isn't Free Realms the game that started out with a ton of Free Stuff to do, but once membership picked up it packaged like half of the game up and started demanding a price for it? When I first played the game, a ton of jobs were open for free, with extra stuff like racer being members only. As I hear it, they packaged pretty much the entirety of the combat classes up then started demanding membership fees for them.

In fact, I'm pretty sure of it now. It was one of the reasons that I promised myself I would never play an SOE game again. SOE has a track record of screwing over their player base. Star Wars Galaxies anyone?

Oh, the combat jobs originally started out with two of the six being free to level to max and you couldn't play ANY of the other four at all. Now they are all free up to level 4.99999 if your character was started after November 9, 2009.

I actually have three Lifetime accounts, plus two others. I only log in for the "Rob Robbie" stuff.

I might actually start playing when they fix the combat, but I guess SWG players have been waiting longer than me.

I agree totally. I was enjoying myself until I realized you could only do anything to level 3 and than you were blocked. I went as far as writing them a letter complaining about the name Free Realms when it was barely even a demo. They wrote me back saying Sorry you didnt enjoy free realms. It wasnt I didnt enjoy it, it was the fact I barely got to try it and I was blocked from doing anything. Not very "free" to me.
Sadly I end up deleting all Sony games after trying them.
They just dont feel like they are customer orientated.

Yes.

They released the game with several "Jobs" you could fully level for free and others that required Membership.

Then they changed it so non-members could level all jobs only up to level 5 (10?).

That is when I cancelled my Membership. Found it unreasonable.

I check this game out from time to time, even going as far as to look at the latest news on it on a weekly basis. It offers some fun, (the pirate ship game is awesome!) and it's nice and safe for parents who play with their kids.

I'll agree the chat system is a hassle, it's funny how players invented a new language just to combat it since you can't even say things on chat, even ones with out any vulgarities being censored. SOE really needs to get on the ball with that.

Free Realms AND Clone Wars Adventures!!!
They both have the same insane filter. It has even filtered out the names of Star Wars:Clone Wars characters.

SOE: the developer I want to love but they wont let me.

SOE needs to offer an option that only allows speed chat sending or receiving. A lot of down right creepy stuff does seep through, but again and as always the best filter is having parents actually know what there kids are Reading and what they are typing.

Actually, Shadow tale is more of a MMO variant-clone of a Dragon Fable, but it's not by Atrix Entertainment(who did both DF and AQ:W). Its actually by a completely different company called Super Awesome Entertainment, or something like that. Also, it's free to play really isn't worth a full article. It's basically a 4-5 hour preview of the game, as in, you can play thru most of the first area, sans the final dungeon. They also cap your level just a touch low for the available content, if I recall, but its still doable with patience.

I agree completely about the disjointed nature of Free Realms. I got several jobs to max level during my time there, even made a few friends....but ultimately theres just nothing there to draw people together. In a -normal- MMO that would be the PvE content, and people would group together in search of fat lewt and challenging encounters. In Free Realms...there's little to no reason to interact with anyone.

Add to that the fact that there's just too many dang tweeners running around asking if they can be your girlfriend just because you have a cool-looking flaming horse/sword/full set of ninja armor and it makes for a game that I can only really stomach in short bursts, when I'm between MMOs. (I think I actually broke a little girl's heart in FR once...she kept inviting me to her house to "hang out", and I finally had to bluntly tell her "I'm probably older than your father, hun.") That 2nd issue is my understandable though..FR is clearly a game more designed for attracting players of that age group than my own.

I made an FR account simply to buy Station Cash via PayPal, for use in EQ2X, since SC is not purchasable by PP anywhere else in the SOE system!

My niece plays this, its like some other title farmville or whatever that is (i refuse to look at it) The two biggest gripes i see are the scoreboards and the games they have tossed about the world. The games apparently are easily hacked with scores on some games being out of this world and times to complete some games in mere seconds. This is how the leaderboards are run, I inquired about this and they have no fix because of the browser based title, anyway, seeing the game its pleasant enough though definately made for kids as the niece unit and her friends are rabid about it.

With a little effort, as many other folks have mentioned they could really open up to a larger demographic, though i wonder if it is their intention to keep it in the kid realms.

I gotta agree with you on that, one leaderboard the max is like 50pts and this one guy has like 45million. I wish they'd clear those out, I ain't buyin their excuse honestly.

Free Realms died for me when they hadn't barely added anything new since release. Tons of cash shop items, thats it. Well, the pirate game is awesome...thats about it. What about the lands that show up on the map? Nothing...almost everything is on the item shop.

The collectible card game is fun. Too bad they decided to stop supporting it after the second series release.

Pssh Freerealms...not even trolling, but Wizard101 and FusionFall are both better tween centered MMO's.

I pop into Free Realms every now and again. It is good for short visits. Even a nice way to do quests from the "grown up" MMOs.

But yes, I pretty much agree with Beau. Something has stagnated a bit and SOE needs to do something to further player interest/growth.
